Pretty soon Comic Day! and Movie Day! are going to be indistinguishable. Come on in and join the discussion (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50189), or see what you'll be picking up at your store with the Diamond's New Release lists (http://www.previewsworld.com/public/default.asp?t=1&m=1&c=6&s=430&ai=69888)
This week, on the Invincible Johnny Gigawatt & the Tiger Men from Mars (http://johnnygigawatt.com): the brave men of Mars discuss the stellar Man of Iron's film debut, and what we'd like to see in an Avengers movie.
Picks of the Week
Invincible Iron Man #1 & Iron Man Viva Las Vegas #1 - It's funny. Marvel puts out an Iron Man movie one week and, what a coincidence, launches two new Iron Man books the next. It's funny how those things just work out that way. Invincible is a new ongoing series by Matt Fraction and Sal Larocca that focuses on the more superhero-esque elements of Tony's life (as opposed to the other ongoing Iron Man series, which deals more with the Director of SHIELD parts of his life). The Viva Las Vegas mini series, written by Jon Favreau and drawn by Adi Granov, probably won't be continuity intensive, but still sounds like fun.
Secret Invasion #2 - Yeah, it's controversial. Yeah a lot of people are dreading it. But I thought the first issue of Secret Invasion was damn good, and I've been looking forward to the second issue for a while now.
X-Factor Quick And The Dead - A one shot focusing on the redemption of everyone's favorite egotistical ex-speedster, Quicksilver. Written by regular X-Factor scribe Peter David, who wrote what many consider the definitive Quicksilver story back in X-Factor vol 1 #87, this starts with Pietro at rock bottom, so he has only one way to go from here.
Man With No Name #1 - A comic series based on the classic character Clint Eastwood portrayed in three legendary Sergio Leone westerns: A Fistfull of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Writer Christos Gage and artist Wellington Dias bring back a character that hasn't appeared in any medium in 40 years, but remains one of the most iconic characters in the world, even though he has no name.
Question of the Week - Lots of comic/movie news this week with Iron Man grossing more than $200 million worldwide since Friday. It seems like every property that's ever graced the pages of a comic is in some stage of development. However, with a few notable exceptions like Sin City and Hellboy, most of the comic movies are based on straight up superheroes from the Big Two. So, this week's question: Which small publisher or alternative comic would you most like to see hit the big screen?
