Fuck you Fallout Boy. Goddamnit, I already hate the one song they have in the game, I don't need another. But I do understand why it's there.

That Angel's and Airwaves song is the worst track on that album. It's too bad they didn't do "The Adventure".

Hmm, can't edit this post.

Anyways, I was going through my MP3's and I have a habit of deleting songs I don't like on in album. Well "It Hurts" is the only track I deleted from this album.

While I'm bummed of the song choice for A&A, I hope this means perhaps we can get some more of their stuff. That's generally not my genre, but for some reason I like that album.

Not my favorite from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but not bad and I'm glad to see more of them. My wife will be, too.

The sad fact that anyone on Evil Avatar listens to Angels & Airwaves is pretty shocking. That band sucks, much like the later Blink 182 that preceded it.

And Fall Out Boy? Even shittier.

A&A and Blink is more of a guilty pleasure, I'm not proud of it. But I do love to listen to it when snowboarding.

I'm still really disappointed. Early era Blink 182 I can understand, but the later stuff is pure shit, much like Angels & Assholes.

I think there are some good tracks off the first A&A album, and at least 2 off the last Blink album and Box Car Racer album. I usually just cherry pick the songs for my mp3 player as I generally only listen to this style of music when I'm doing something which involves speed.

Oh my god. We agree on something.

Get this man a fucking medal, because this post wins the thread.

Blink 182 is a shitty band, and Angels and Airwaves is an attempt to cash in on the U2/Coldplay demographic with his voice at the helm and.. it fucking sucks. He's a worse singer than that asian dude from American Idol.

Also, we need some GWAR and Prince. Thank you.

I'll give the Yeah Yeah Yeahs a spin. Thank God for the Preview feature.

There's one A&A song I've heard that sounds like it'd at least be a fun song to play. No idea what it is. I think it was their first single?

Ok, obviously in something like this there are going to be wildly differing tastes and opinions, but can we all agree not to resort to calling a band/fan of said band "fags" just because it's not our style? I'm looking over in West Egg at you Gatsby...

I'm sorry but The Yeah Yeah Yeahs aren't even in remotely the same genre as FOB and A&A. Garage rock != tweeny bopper pop punk.

Hate to say it but I'll be getting the FOB song. All that emo shit is really fun to play in Rock Band, ya'll need to get your fun levels checked. Most of you will jizz when the Nirvana tracks are relased and I assure that won't be nearly as fun to play as Paramore or FOB but it'll be twice as deppressing.

You know, some of the content that comes out for RB seems like I would hate the shit out of it, I mean I really dislike Fall Out Boy. I'll be goddamned, though, if that Fall Out Boy track that is already on there isn't one of the more fun jams to play. I really can't stand All American Rejects either, but my sweet band Assful of Anus has way too good of a time playing them every time.
But the curse is if I hear these lame songs on the radio now, I catch myself kinda feelin that shit. Oh, fuck my air drumming just sneaks up on me.

Thank you!

haha maybe some Die Krupps?

How about some Feindflug.

Hellsau perhaps?

Wait wait.. some Funker Vogt.

Seriously tho, an industrial rock pack would HAVE to include some Acumen Nation. Sadly i dont think 99% of the DLC buyers would have any clue who Acumen is. Parasite Mine? C-Cection? Dirty Fighter? Just a Bastard? Great guitar / drum tracks - specially drums. Would be much fun.

FUCK YES!

FOB and A&A blow but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs?

Maps gave such a horrible first impression. Everyone wrote them off as being soft but its funny that's their ONLY soft song on that album. Why they picked it I don't know.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs is some intense shit. Date With the Night and Tick being seriously adrenaline fueled. God how I want Tick. I want it so bad.

Heh, I think you missed when I said POP punk. While a lot of the kids in those bands have said they're influenced by some of the good old stuff, none of them would call their bands punk.

I'm amazed at how many people get their hate on when it comes to pop punk. It's not like it's killing a member of the Damned everytime someone listens to a New Found Glory song. heh.

Either way, I'm happy they added another FOB song, and another Yeah Yeah Yeah song. I agree they kinda had a rough intro with Maps.

what a bad choice of song from angels and airwaves. there is so much better stuff they could have chosen. maybe tom is pimping it to get it some exposure.

i wouldn't mind seeing some cheshire cat/dude ranch era blink 182. m+m's or touchdown boy would be fun.

eh. it's a lack of true taste, because people who have real taste in music don't pigeonhole genres. you don't have to like everything out there, but the hate is just pointless.

This. I have my share of pretentious music, but I don't have a need to hate on music I don't like. I haven't heard this A&A song, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be fun to play.

Also, I 4th the Tom Petty pick. I've been dying for that since release.

Pretty sure I agree with this. I strongly dislike Fall Out Boy, but our singer liked their song, and I actually had a lot of fun playing "Dead on Arrival." As long as I'm in non-snob mode, and it'll all be awesome.

And I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to begin with, so that's good news, too. But I think I'll pass on the Angels & Airwaves song.

Man, the amount of immense h8 going on in this thread is amazing, if predictable.

I love the way if something is popular, catchy, whatever, music snobs everywhere turn their noses up...

Can't be heard listening to something mindless and fun, god no. That'd ruin my cred of listening to only vinyl records that were made by being pressed between the buttcheeks of syd vicious. Have I mentioned how hardcore I am recently?

Seriously, that's what all you fucks sound like. It's fantasticly amusing though, so thanks! :p

Wow, some real douchebags are inhabiting this thread. I wouldn't say those are my favorite bands, but they play some catchy music that's fun to rock out to on Rock Band. The thing is though, anyone can play your game. I mean come on, GWAR, Really? A bunch of losers in Halloween masks who can't play instruments to save their lives. And Industrial Rock, are you kidding me? What a huge steaming pile of lose that whole genre is. See, I just insulted your horrible, shitty "music" which I'm sure you actually like quite a bit. Yeah, you probably don't like it either.

Or maybe we just really don't enjoy shitty music like Fall Out Boy and Angels & Airwaves? I dunno, man, I'm just having trouble sharing your enthusiasm for preprocessed junk.

Here's the kicker, though: pop music from decades past is still really, really enjoyable. But in 30+ years, nobody will fondly remember Fall Out Boy and its ilk. They'll look back and say "Fuck, that was terrible." If they enjoyed it at the time, they'll probably say "Fuck, that was terrible, and I must have been retarded to listen to that shit." Or at least anybody with some dignity and wits about them. Maybe some of them will still be at the mental age they occupied during this time, who knows?

It's the equivalent of Vanilla Ice in the '90s: you just sort of sweep it under the rug and act like it never happened.

Rock Bandit

I don't know about that Dis, I think the "scene" music of today is analouge to the hair metal of the 80's. When it was big, it was HUGE and dominated a lot of the mindshare. It was big, brainless and got the kids to blast their hair with Aquanet and sing along. Then came the backlash and the desire for music that was more about substance over style (and ironically, concious efforts to not have a style became a style). Now 20+ years later you see the nostalgia coming back ("Dude remember when we used to blast our hair with Aquanet and sang along.......actually, remember when we just had hair?").

I think the currents scene will fade, you'll have a long period of "Ugh, what were we thinking?" and then when the emo kids are parents with kids of their own you're going to start seeing "Dude, Panic! At The Disco are doing a show at the Elk's Lodge! Let's put on our wife's pants and go check it out, like in the old days." You'll probably never see one of these bands on any "Top Blah-Blah of Whatever" lists critics like to put together to circle jerk each other but never underestimate nostalgia.

Of Note: I'm at work right now and Nightranger is now playing on the rock station we have on in the office, one of those "the best of yesterday and today" stations.

Mooootoring! What's your price for flight? And finding Mr. Right. You'll be alright tonight.

JAL covers it nicely. The last time really technical bands were popular was quite a long time ago...there's not a lot of good music in the classical sense out there.

I just find the people hating on FOB and A&A amusing. There's a time when I want to listen to cheesy pop punk, because it's mindless and entertaining. I'm a classically train pianist, violinist, and violist, played in orchestra/ensemble for 10 years, and have dabbled in electric bass as well...just like I wouldn't want to spend all day debating philosophy, I don't want to spend all day expanding my mind musically. Sometimes it's nice to sit down and listen to something with absolutely no substance and a catchy tune. People talk about bands like this being guilty pleasures, which is dumb...who cares what you listen to as long as you like it?

Just because you're old and burned out now doesn't mean that I'll need to be bitter about the things you liked as a kid :p

And while GWAR has been around for a long time, their music and gimick is still balls horrible. But if people like to get shot by the foam cannon sitting between the lead singer's legs, who cares? I'm not going to run around wet blanketing their show because their music isn't technical complex or on the level of vivaldi or some bullshit like that...

And pop music from the last couple of decades is totally fucking horrible. Disco, glam/hair metal, etc. but people still like it for the appeal of their childhood, and I'm pretty sure I'll still listen to the crappy bands of my childhood in another 30 years. :o

I'm not saying it's not terrible music...but it's fun to listen to and fun to play on RB if you're willing to simply stop being elitist about kids wearing tight pants and silly scene girls for a little bit.
