Jane Cavanagh, Chief Executive of SCi Entertainment Group, plc., lets the cat out the bag in the company's 2007 Annual Report - new installments of Hitman and Tomb Raider are on the way.
From the report:
We have invested significantly in the pipeline of products for 2008 and beyond and we are looking forward with much anticipation to the sequels to Just Cause and Battlestations: Midway, which are already in development, and new versions of world-leading franchises Tomb Raider and
Hitman.
And there was much rejoicing?

Well, we knew Tomb Raider was coming. I haven't enjoyed a Hitman game since Silent Assassin's. They just didn't seem fun anymore after that.

True, we did know...
And I've not really enjoyed ANY of the Hitman games, even though I own them all.

I enjoyed Contracts and Blood Money, but nowhere near as much as Silent Assassin. Something didn't quite feel 'right' about them to me. I recently reinstalled Silent Assassin, and instantly felt how much more I enjoyed it. It even looks pretty good still.
I'll still buy a new one though. 47 is too cool a character not to.

A new Tomb Raider game can't sit on the discounted shelves soon enough.

I've loved every Hitman game, with SA or Blood Money being my favorite, in terms of gameplay (Codename 47 still as the greatest story, though that was never Hitman's strong point, but not necessarily weak either). I'm actually replaying Blood Money now (for the 3rd time) after a few hours into Assassins Creed. AC is fun for a few hours, but can't keep me engrossed like a Hitman game can.
Very exciting news, but do we have any information concerning who's developing? A Hitman game without IO at the helm would likely be a disaster.
Also, a sequel to Battlestations: Midway? Awesome! Great sim.

I am so glad that wasn't just me.

Tomb Raider Legend was excellent I thought, but then the PoP style platforming alone was enough to really interest me. Hitman has so much potential as a next-gen title, I just hope they do it justice. I think that the AI and stealth gameplay especially need a lot of work, but I really think they can do it. Whether they actually will or not is a different matter.
Either way, I guess I still have Splinter Cell 5 coming this year.

I'm playing through Blood Money right now and I like it...would like it so much more if it didn't take so long to reload after you fail a mission or want to just restart from your last save. It's excruciating, especially if you want to experiment.
Hitman 2 is far and away the best in the series, however.
I've derived enjoyment from Hitman titles in the past, but I couldn't do Blood Money. It felt too clunky, but I was playing it on a console, so that could have been part of it. Hitman 2 for PC is a pretty tight game.
That said, I've never cared for Tomb Raider, and honestly don't understand the love for it.

TR: Anniversary was freakin' awesome. I never played the first TR, but heard great things about the puzzle design, and I loved Legend, so I gave it a shot.
MAN, that level design is good, and MAN, it works well with the Legend control scheme.

Same thing here. I played Silent Assassin and Contracts on PC, but I played Blood Money on Xbox 360. I may have liked it more if I was using the K/B&M that I was used to.

Blood Money is probably my favorite since the first game. The Hotel level of SA is probably still my favorite of the entire series, though.

does anyone have sales figures for the recent hitman and tomb raider games? I can't believe they actually sale well enough to stretch the series on for so long.

Did you really just put Tomb Raider and 'not selling well' in the same sentence? I wouldn't be surprised if it was the only thing keeping Eidos afloat.
The Hitman games are pretty popular as well. I don't have any numbers, but it's a pretty high-profile series.

Hitman! Glad to know there is something else to look forward to. I'll add this to my list.

Hitman is good, but the franchise definitely needs more than just extra ways to do jobs. The game largely hasn't changed since the second title. I want more features!

We knew Hitman was going to get at least 1 more go around since the movie did well.
Tomb Raider was a safe bet also.
Wake me when they decide to take a chance on a new LOK.

Yeh why is that? I went back and played Agent 47 on steam... that game totally rules....
