FIFA 06 returns to field with more teams, better graphics, and improved gameplay. Utilize improved formations to create the perfect attack with the world's greatest players.

EA has released a FIFA 06 multi-language demo allowing you to play a game between either Manchester United, AC Milan, PSG, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, in Millennium and Azteca stadiums.

You can grab the FIFA 06 demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=27870) over at WorthPlaying.

Is this American football, or European soccer, or European football?

/beating European EA members to the punch.

Football is football, whether played on the east side or west side...

This is FOOTBALL, not American Football.

I mean, what do you think FIFA stands for? The Federation of Internation Footballing Association. The 'International' part should convince you that it isn't American Football... ;)

Well, actually it stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association. So it's not even in the American language!

God dammit, do I ever love soccer posts. Nothing's funnier than people talking about soccer/football.

I play Fifa 05 on N-gage quite a bit. Fun game even though I know nothing about soccer.

This demo had some weird ghost controller thing going on in the menus, so it took a while to get to the game itself, and when I did I was completely underwhelmed.

Improved gfx? The models and textures (of the players anyway) are identical to those of previous versions of this game. There may be a couple of new motion captured animations, but that's about it. No hint of self shadowing, no hidden promise of pixel shaders... It's like the year 1998 all over again....

As with previous fifa demos the thing appears to be locked at 800x600 - and no amount of AA and AF is going to help - even with my dual 7800 setup.

Maybe next year's full price patch will improve things.

Try unplugging your other USB devices. On my system, the demo was detecting my USB remote control receiver (for TV card) as a game controller. I'm sure they'll fix this come release.

Already did - even made sure windows/directx thought there was nothing connected via the game controllers control panel.

Probably an xp64 driver issue rather than the game demo to be honest tho - still, the demo stunk, so why not attribute it to that as well.... ;)
