1up ([url=http://www.1up.com) has posted a preview (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3143207) that includes video clips of upcoming PS2/XBOX title, The Warriors.
Release Date: 10/17/2005 (PS2 (http://www.gametab.com/ps2/warriors.the/4037/) & Xbox)
This title has definitely caught my eye.
Looks incredibly violent.
Not that I'm some prude or anything. Hell, some of my favorite games are violent bashers, like God of War, Buffy, Ninja Gaiden. It just looks like all you do is pound guys heads into the ground and there's no "adventure" to this "action/adventure".
I guess we'll see...

It has the resources of a Grand Theft Auto game, the budget of a Grand Theft Auto game, and the push of a Grand Theft Auto game.
and what appears to be the character detail of a Grand Theft Auto game, those are some UGLY models.

I have to hand it to Rockstar. I haven't been a huge fan recently, but making your BIG title of the year an adaptation of "The Warriors." Talk about being the Sheriff of Ballsville.

I'm much more excited about "Bully", but Rockstar makes good games for the most part. I'll definitely rent this and may even purchase it.

Have any of you people who are badmouthing this game actually ever seen the movie? I'm guessing "no." I don't see how anyone who had could possibly have anything but anticipation for this.

I saw the movie for the first time a couple nights ago and totally geeked out over how blisteringly awesometastic it was.
From the screenshots, it looks like they've done a great job of recreating the look of the film. And I find the less than bleeding edge graphics to be appealing, considering the retro context...
It's been years since there's been a good beat-em up (that I'm aware of). The fact that they mention the devs poring over Double Dragon and Final Fight for inspiration gets me incredibly psyched.

Can I join the club too?
But I will say expecting a game to be good just because the movie rocked is a bit...uh, naive?

Naive sure, but if rockstar can do anything, they can do gang warfare on coney island, which is basically all that's required. If I can utterly destroy the cyclone I'll feel satisfied as that thing is a deathtrap to this day.

I'm really looking forward to this one, the movie was jawesome. They've even got James Remar voicing Ajax (the guy that gets handcuffed to the park bench)
