I just skimmed over the contest rules for the new Xbox 360 contest (http://pepsi.yahoo.com/everyten/home2.php) from Mountain Dew.
I noticed that all the points collected must be redeemed by 11/15/05. This might provide more support towards a release date of 11/16/05.

Well, maybe, but if it's free then just go spend the money on periphs and games!

From the official rules...
"Total estimated retail value of sweepstakes prize package is $580.00."
The prize is an Xbox 360, a game(choice of Madden or Need for Speed), and some hats and t-shirts. I think it's a safe bet that it's the premium 360 package.

I think that a November launch has never really been in question. I suppose it is nice to know the precise day, but it makes little difference. I imagine that we will be inundated with this information in a few weeks.

$580, just like how a normal washing machine(sans dryer) cost $2000 on Price is right?
The hat, game, and tshirt alone retails at $200.

Not quite sure what the news story is here - if you go to EBGames.com the estimated ship date is 11/15, so the contest doesn't really give any hidden information.

...Even if it is the shitty version, buying the hard-drive and a wireless controller would still be WAY lower than buying a full supreme Microsoft-fuck-me-up-the-ass package.

I think they should market it that way. That's awesome.

That'd certainly sell a lot of pink faceplates.

But in the 'f-me-up-the-a' package as you so eloquently put it, you also get the HD cables and the wireless headset. Plus you get a game with the system.
Really, if you honestly feel as though you are getting reamed, don't buy one. 'Unless of course you like getting 'f-ed in your a'. Then, maybe you are trying to compliment the price in a special kind of way...
