I'd also love to see a TF2 short movie done by Valve. It'd be an incredible bit of machinima.

I'd always envisioned the Scout as Tyres from Spaced (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y54jev1Uyao&feature=related), a mind destroyed by years of clubbing and amphetamines.

I'm hoping that when I finally end up living someplace where I can get a decent connection that I'll be able to start playing TF2 and not be impossibly behind the curve. :(

I might give it a shot. They guy instantly reminded me of a friend of a friend who took a trip to Canada to visit us. It was really fidgety and would start nodding his head to anything that resembled a beat.

To be fair he only appears a couple of times. Not to say the show isn't genius (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUQfHRfX2o8) (the subtitles are a DVD extra).

About the Movie
Meet the Scout, one of nine playable character classes in Team Fortress 2:
Name: Scout
Role: Offense
Weapons: Scattergun / Pistol / Baseball Bat
The youngest of eight boys from the south side of Boston, the Scout learned early how to problem solve with his fists. With seven older brothers on his side, fights tended to end before the runt of the litter could maneuver into punching distance, so the Scout trained himself to run. He ran everywhere, all the time, until he could beat his pack of mad dog siblings to the fray.

No I think you are right it was one of the shorter ones, it is just longer in overall time due to the like 10 seconds of advertising time at the end.
The scout is from Boston, not New York.

This one had way more sight gags and fewer notable quotables than the others.

I can't seem to stop watching it. It's like Valve has defied the uncanny valley with this video - particular the 'birds fly, the sun shines' part where he's walking at the camera. The motion of his body and the facial animations. Valve really outdid themselves on this one, I think.
wackman: as for the tools, I may be mistaken, I can't seem to find anything. I may have just been confusing this with FacePoser getting updated for TF2 at some point.

I think his point is that the level of realism in the looks of the characters nowhere near approaches the uncanny valley. Nonetheless, it is excellently done animation.
Also, cp#, that Copyright LOLOLOL is still one of my favorite parts of the shorts.

I didn't like this all that much the first time I saw it, but it's really grown on me. Still not a favourite, but that says more about how great some of the other "Meet the..." videos are.

Heh, awesome! Loved it, cause I love playing as scrappy fella.
Still impressed by how the character's convey emotion so excellently, I love how the heavy just looks over at him after getting poked. The animation is beyond reproach for something done almost purely for everyone's shits and giggles. and advertising...sure that.
The engineer's is still the best so far though...

Ya, I think Garry updated Gmod for more configuration with the hands/fingers and facial expressions.
I have 0 patience for Gmod though. The machinima I would spent time to learn properly in a heartbeat. To make short videos like this would be a riot to me.

Dear lord, you and those scary videos :p. I was just looking through the other "Meet the" series and noticed that in the soldier one, they are playing Granary, but there is another path opened to the last point, on the right side if you're attacking. I wonder if they did that just for the video or if it was originally like that. Would be fun to see how it would affect the gameplay on that map.

For those who never experienced the greatness of Team Fortress though, it is a very welcome addition to my gaming collection. I have never enjoyed myself as much in a FPS game than I have in TF2. Likewise, it also has the ability to frustrate you beyond belief when you are lacking the "team" part.
edit: Just watched the Soldier one again.

Genius.

I can totally see that. If you didn't play Teamfortress Quake or Teamfortress Classic then this would be a blast to play. I played both those titles to death and then when TF2 came out -- to have it be literally nothing more than just Teamfortress Classic ported to the Source Engine with new models...
That was kind of a bone crushing disappointment.
I played it for a few days and then went back to Battlefield 2 where at least I can play on a few new maps.

I play on and off. I played a ton and then I never picked up the last couple of expansion packs and about 6 months ago I picked up the two expansion packs I was missing and I started playing exclusively on servers that hosted those maps.
It was a blast and it kept me busy for a couple of months. There were days when no one was playing the new maps, but I was surprised how often we could get 12+ players on a new map.
I haven't played in the past few months because I got into EVE Online again.
Now, I'm trying to catch up on FPS's I missed on the 360.

I played TFC to death but there's by far enough differences to keep me interested in this game... maybe part of it was that it's been a long time but even simple things like the no 'nades and no bunny hopping made me enjoy the game so much more TFC ended up being a exploit fest and it just wasn't fun any more... TF2 sticks to the core game play and that was really nice. You just have to go play FF to understand just how much of a diffrent game TFC ended up being.
But even then there now going to start adding the unlocks... and even if i disagree with the unlocking idea giving every class new load outs is going to end up making the game very intresting. There making major changes to the gameplay. So even if your not a huge fan now don't dismiss it
