Score like a superstar with NHL 06. Express your shooting style with the all-new Skill Stick and light the lamp with highlight reel moves such as spinoramas, toe drags, bat-ins, and between-the-legs shots. Classic deke control adds to your arsenal by letting you manoeuvre around defensemen and make goalies dizzy before snapping off dangerous shots that can ripple the twine and knock the water bottle off the net.

2kgames should really make their games for PC, it always feels like EA sports' version gives everyone massive puckhandling abilities.

Promptly crashed on my machine. :) Would rather play 2k anyway.

I guess I'm one of the few that still enjoys EA's hockey games. I've played the last few versions of the 2k games, and it just didn't feel right.

Yep, you're the only one ;)
NHL2k5 is like the best hockey game ever, I play a game or two every week. 15 minutes of pure pleasure.

The demo is pretty good. I'm not getting checked everytime I skate past the opposing blue line. :P

Nice POS demo - main menu doesn't even come up on my system. A quick glance at message boards reveals the same problem is happening all over. No menu, just an "Esc to quit" option (any other key or controller button does nothing).
Guess I should thank EA. Don't know what I was thinking going and trying to play this game.

Well as long as you don't mind if your video game hockey doesn't resemble the real game in any reasonable way, then EA's hockey games are fine.

I wouldn't go that far. At least the players don't look like monkeys, and they do skate pretty realistically. Plus, the fighting isn't all that bad. Also, the goalie animations in 06 are pretty damn sweet.

I heard this year EA's game is quite a bit more realistic...it still won't even touch 2k6...but at least they are making steps in the right direction.

Its pretty good, but the best nhl game of all time was the nes one. You could only pick skinny or fat guys, great game.

i must say, I'm impressed...it actually shows some improvement. Still a little too arcadey for my likes, but the animations are real slick.

Haven't seen this year's yet (damn broken demo) but this wasn't even close last year. You could take one guy and skate S's the length of the damn ice - that is, until someone gave you a physics-defying open ice slam.

Demo worked fine for me. I'm a massive hockey fan and it's so frustrating when 2 good hockey games can't get together to make 1 great one - and now EA has exclusive use of all NHLPA data? it makes me wonder the fate of 2k. I'm definately impressed by the look (obviously) but also the feel of the Demo. Players act more like players, and it's true!, you dont get hit every time u cross the blue line! :p - but even with all the good player animations, game effects and control flexibility, EA still fails to make it *feel* like hockey - they are getting closer but they need to present it in more of a 2k way, i mean, do any of these guys even get into *real* hockey - it's all about being totally engrossed in the game - not just playing on the ice, hitting people, scoring the most goals then clicking next - it's the putting your hands on ur head over the big saves, indulging in the goal you've scored, chanting "HEY!" with the virtual stadium as you throw your controller on the floor to raise your hands and scream SCORE! After 12 or so years of NHL games, it annoys the hell out of me that they still can't make it a total hockey experience.

looks nice, although NHL2k6 still looks better , an the foundation in NHL2k5 was awesome. Hockey is huge for me, so NHL2k5 plays more like a real game than EAs offering. The new mocap by Turco for NHL2k6 goalies is truly amazing...
