Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/puzzle/capcomclassicscollection/preview_6131995.html?q=1&tag=gs_hp_flashtop_read) has a hands-on preview of the upcoming Capcom Classics Pack. They only had to mention Bionic Commando and I was sold.

Bionic Commando is the side-scrolling action game that appeared in 1987. You'll be charged with making the most of a bionic arm fitted with a wire-grappling hook and a gun as you set out to infiltrate the enemy's secret base, discover their top secret plans, and put a stop to them.
Release Date: 9/27/05 (XBox, PS2)

Just last night I played through Smash TV with my cousin. Couldn't believe the high scores on Live for it though! Classic Gaming=teh g00dness

Hmmm I was expecting more Street Fighter 2 milking...

That's the arcade Bionic Commando, right? I seem to remember that being not as good as the NES version.

The timing of this couldn't be perfect. I'm about to put all my old NES and SNES games (and the remodeled systems) up on Ebay. I haven't used them in years and there's no use in hanging on to them if I'm not going to play them. I'd much rather have a PS2 disc or Gamecube disc with my favorite Capcom games on them anyway than a stack of NES carts in the closet.

Bionic Commando, one of the greatest games on the NES.

Just read the article...arcade versions of Final Fight?! Ghosts and Goblins?!?! Ghouls and Ghosts?!?!? Oh my...

Well there are about four versions of SF2 on it, lol

I'm looking forward to this - I could never afford any of these games as a kid, and I have a lot of fond memories of Gunsmoke and Final Fight

I'm surprised at all the positive responses.

I loved Bionic Commando too, but that's why I still own it. Unfortunately, that's the only thing that interests me in this title. Btw, Bionic Commando's gameplay was fantastic for it's time, but what used to be really cool jump puzzles are pretty worn to death by now.

No Gamecube version? What, the processor of the Gamecube can't handle Bionic Commando all of a sudden?

Goddamn, now if they only threw in U.N. Squadron on that disc, it'd be perfect.

Bionic Commando is the only game (aside from the Super Mario Bros series), that I've played through more than once. I just don't replay games, I dunno why.

I really like the arcade version of bionic commando. In fact I prefer it. The NES version is more slow-paced and methodical while the arcade version is a fast paced action game akin to shinobi or contra, but vastly different from those two because of the grappling hook.

I don't want to dis the NES version, but I was too young to appreciate it when it first came out and now its unforgivingness is too much for me to bear when compared to the current state of checkpoint-crazy games.

I think a lot of people are gonna be really suprised at how awesome the arcade version is. I didn't play it until a few years ago on MAME and fell in love. It's really great.

Of all those classics gaming packs this is the first that's looked even half appealing to me, it's nearly even a good enough excuse to get the arcade stick controller.

yeah the collection seems a lot nicer than the namco museum which only had like 5 (6?) games...still i have to show the love for midway treasures 2

Why bother making the 'Cube version? The games will probably be out for the Revolution...which you will have to buy each game separately.

Bionic Commando should of been on GBA SP...

Yup...and a version for the DS wouldn't have been a bad idea either. Does the DS have an old school style Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr? I mean when you think about it, the dual screens would be perfect for a game like that.

Any word on if this game will have Live scoreboards?

Arcade perfect port of Final Fight? That's enough for me, then there are the other great games. I just wish Capcom would stop milking SF2 so much. They should have the best SF2 version on the disk and replace the other 3 or so versions with different games. Still, I love old school compilations like this. Now if we could just get Konami off its ass to do something similar. Surely I'm not the only one who would like a little old-school Contra/Castlevania action.

I'm super pumped for Forgotten Worlds which to this day is my absolute favorite arcade game. I think it might be the first arcade game to have a store in the game where you could upgrade weapons. Damn I dropped a lot of quarters into that game.

and that my friends is why i have offically stopped buying new games, and instead am going to purchase a second psp for actual psp games ;). Frugal my ass.

)note the ability to play every single arcade/nes/gensis/snes game i have played is such a gaming orgasm that i dunno, the games that it offers to me is just so awesome i cannot handle not using it. Its like deleting and entire cap of the xfiles in dvd qaulity from your harddrive. Sure you have the discs (roms on computer) but its nothing like having it on your computer for quick acess (versus on your psp on the go). If you understand what im saying?.

i've got a computer hooked up to the tv dedicated to emulation using a custom frontend i wrote. allows you to view lists of games based on system with screenshots, start the emu and stop it, and go back to the main menu all through the gamepad. nice having every game ever made available from the comfort of your couch :) that said, i still buy the compilations for the extras.

I love both of the midway classics game packs that have been released. I'm still wondering why MK 1 was left out of the second pack when they have MK2 and 3 on there. The first one is just like an orgasm of mid-late '80s gaming.

the new mortal kombat game was out at the time and the 'special edition' had mk1 with it. marketing conflict maybe?

You don't have to do that. There's a program that tricks your PSP into thinking it's running firmware 2.0, so games won't try to update it.

Forgotten Worlds kicks major ass. I got hooked on that hardcore for the Genesis. The homing lasers were just ridiculous... Awesome game.

This collection is no doubt the greatest compilation by any video game company of all time. This miracle title surpasses even the excellence that was brought to the Saturn and PS1 - the Capcom Generations vol 1 to 5!!!!!

THANKS CAPCOM!!!

Actually, the only thing better than this collection is if there was a homebrew CPS-1 and 2 emulator for PSP!

another comment, the PS2 version will probably be the one to own, especially since it'll be playable on the PS3, gauranteed. The Xbox version on 360? Chances are, unfortunately, most likely not...
