View Full Version : Metroid Prime: Hunters goes online
Pro-G (http://www.pro-g.co.uk) has news on Metroid Prime: Hunters for the Nintendo DS going online. When Nintendo's release schedule for the remainder of 2005 didn't list Metroid Prime: Hunters many people assumed that this delay was to add support for Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection - Nintendo's online service. This has now been confirmed by Nintendo (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/nid/957/1362/). Hunters will let players battle it out locally or across the country via the online service.

Good. Because having it not be online was the stupidest idea ever.
Now gimme Animal Crossing, dammit!

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for Nintendo this next generation. I'm looking forward to it!

See! I knew it! Nintendo isn't SERIOUS about online gaming, it's justa bunch'a lip service. Now Sony is all about online...
...waitiasecond.
Hmmm. If I actually READ the article, this looks to me like a GOOD thing! ;-)

Wow, I really need to break down and buy a DS. Good thing today is payday...
I am starting to get that longing for a DS that I had for my PSP. Hopefully that turns out to be a better relationship, but we'll see. I'm getting really exited about the line-up I'm seeing come out of the Nintendo camp. I've always loved a majority of the stuff Nintendo submits as they can put out quality and too allow me to get my (sometimes) weird-fix, so this was really only a matter of time. Still not wild about the MP: H control-scheme, but I'll still buy it. They could require I play Metroid Prime 3 with a bloody stump of a hand wrapped in a barb-wire and I'd nod, pay my money, and do it.
Sadly, I think the only way I'll be able to snag a DS without my wife's face splitting is to wait for December and the birthday that comes with it. Ah well. More games available with the wait, I s'pose.

The delays of Nintendo titles are getting on my nerves, but if it's for a quality product...well, yeah...

I've seen used DS units selling for $109 at a gamestop near where I work, it's very tempting to pickup one of those and the new advance wars game. Does anybody know if they are still selling the DS and mario64 bundle since the price dropped to $129?

Already got my homebrew loaded PSP.
Getting a DS *only* for Animal Crossing and Mario Kart.

Most of the sports titles are playable online...but there's no central system. Blah!

I normally try to avoid Walmart at all costs but I may have to make a special exception if I can't find the bundle elsewhere. Seems like a pretty good deal, get a new DS and mario for $20 more than a scratched up used one with no game.

Is this the Evil Avatar site? There is far too much love for Nintendo here. I must have made a wrong turn somewhere. ;)

Animal Crossing is the reason I bought a DS a while back. But I feel that Kirby Canvas Curse and Meteos justify owning the system. Both are excellent games. As is Nintendogs, I assume. I haven't seen my DS much since I got Nintendogs for my wife.

Same thing here. The day Nintendogs came out I bought an Electric Blue DS with Mario 64 for my girlfriend at my local WalMart. It was the last one they had. All the rest were standard Silver and didn't include Mario 64.

Edit: Well, not exactly what he wrote in the post. I know he had mentioned this to me though. Glad to see it came about. I can't wait to pick up Hunters.

I recently got to play Meteos... and I take back everything I ever said about puzzle games. It was awesome. I suck, but it's awesome.

Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but what does one need to go online with the DS? Will any Wi-Fi b/g router do the job?

You know, you might not need anything. I am betting a lot of people will discover their house/apartment overlaps a wi-fi field and they will just jump on when they turn their ds on.
I have broadband but I use ethernet cable. Well, I borrowed a friend's wireless card for a night and I realized I have three wi-fi networks present in my apartment. So when I get my DS reall I will just be able to turn it on and go. That will probably happen to a lot of people.

In theory, you won't need anything. In practice, I would recommend having either a wireless router or one of Nintendo's USB wireless links that they will be selling when the Wi-Fi network goes live.

In reality in english speaking parts, only central parts of america have WIfi up the ass. In canada for example, wifi is only just starting to come into play.

Nintendogs seems to be selling pretty well. The local Fred Meyers is running short on stock. I was at Frye's today and they were down to one copy. I got to listen to a 40ish woman bitch about them not have the version she wanted.

Find a demo unit with Nintendogs and trick your wife into trying it. Then you can tease her about spending too much money on games.

That could work, until she feels threatened. The minute that happens, her hair flairs out and people run. Everybody runs. I'd get "Hey, you're playing a video-" out and then you wouldn't see me post on here ever again. Why? Because I'd have no eyes.

It is? Toronto's been covered by multiple overlapping networks for years now. Though I suppose it's far more difficult for the same thing to happen in the country.
Though really, spending the whole $30 to have a wifi router to use with your broadband connection gets you online anyways (not to mention the rumored wifi device that goes in your USB port of your PC to connect the DS/revolution).

After spending several hours today making ethernet cable and adding another computer to my network, Nintendo's USB dongle is looking more and more attractive as a solution. Hopefully it will be compatable with all Wi-Fi and I'll be able to use my laptop with it too.

On the same note a few weeks ago I got to play a 99 life stock game. Took a half hour to complete (i lost by almost 50 lives), but it was awesome and I got loads of meteos for fusing new planets.

Just the other day I saw two, one was free after rebate the other was $30 after rebate.
You won't even have to dump your current router, if you like it that much. Just plug the wifi into the existing router. What's with the resistance to wifi?
