Oh no! Monday! Work, school, obligations, daily chores and such. So, what did you guys play in the weekend? Rampaging yourself through a GTA to get yourself hyped for the next one? Blasting away on the new CoD maps? Or are you slaying yourself through the Nordics in Viking? Tell us all about it.

Bought a PS3! So played Ratchet, a bit of Uncharted, and some demo's and getting to know the system. I also miraculously finished Half Life 2 on 360. Played that for the first time 4 years ago on PC, got stuck then and now played through it with the Orange Box. Anyone want to explain that bizarre ending:P?

Not as much as I would've liked, I had a pretty busy weekend. Crisis Core got the most love, that's still an absolutely amazing game, at least for me. Played a bit of FFXI and hit 66 Scholar doing Campaign Battles, I didn't have time to find a party.

I grabbed Dual Shock 3 on sale yesterday and broke it in on some Uncharted. Man, I forgot how great that game is. I'm almost done with playthrough #2 on Hard (well, probably 70% anyway) and I'm 56/60 on treasures.

Mostly playing the clean the baby game. But got in a couple hours of a rented Dark Sector. Not half bad, but not half good either and very frustrating in places. Also levelled up some more in PC CoD 4. I'm a total RPD whore.

Played a little TF2, a little Dead Rising, and a little Dwarf Fortress.
I don't know why I went back to Dead Rising. That game irritates the hell out of me...crappy escort AI.

Finished Half Life 2 episode 2.
F'n hunters are a pita with the console.
Till I figured out I could run them over.

Just got another laptop and am going to try loading Vampire: The Masquerade on it next weekend.
Should be a cool time killer.

I had an epic weekend of finishing things -- Mass Effect and Eternal Sonata.

Holy FUCK was the ending of ES ever amazing (as well as amazingly weird)!! The little short film(?) after the second set of credits, after the second ending cutscene/opera was just too great. That was absolutely a perfect capper for such an amazingly touching story. Art!

Finally finished all of FEAR. Little known fact, Perseus Mandate is a stand alone expansion, and the install is over 7 gigs. Great games, imo.

I also installed American McGee's Alice and got in a few hours of that as well.

Tried to install Painkiller, but it refuses to cooperate with my machine.

Well, I got my PC (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48083) together Friday evening, and after getting everything up and running, I went back to CoH. It's been quite fun catching up with everyone, and getting back to my main. I also gave one of my secondary characters a make-over, which worked out quite well, and now I actually feel motivated to play her!

I also installed Oblivion. I only piddled around for a bit, as I think it might be the most graphically impressive game I have and I wanted to test things out. I was set on playing a custom race I found on TES Source, but it required like five other mods, and one of them ended up corrupting my install.

On Sunday I discovered a strange game called Yume Nikki (English: Dream Diary) (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48366). It's freeware, and I wouldn't exactly describe it as fun, but it is highly atmospheric and interesting.

On the anime front, I found a couple of things which might be interesting in a season where I was expecting nothing but Macross Frontier, but the subs aren't out yet.

Played a few hours of Baroque, got through two missions in Lost Planet, started a save game in Blue Dragon, played a few hours of EQ2, and ran someone through Deadmines in WoW. Apparently I had ADD this weekend.

Soul Eater (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Eater_(manga)) is what I'm looking at. I also discovered Kure-nai (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5535); the first episode of this one is already out, I just haven't gotten around to watching it. There is also Zettai Karen Children (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5674), but I've heard mixed reviews from those who have watched it.

Hey Bingley Joe, that's great news to hear about the ending to Eternal Sonata. I'm a little burnt out on JRPGs right now after finishing Lost Odyssey, but I really need to go back and work on Eternal Sonata soon.

I played a lot of Conan (I'm pretty close to finishing the game) and Crisis Core with a little bit of Smash Bros. and Baroque thrown in for good measure.

Damn it, but those missions in Crisis Core are sucking my life away. I know I'm basically going through the same areas slashing up the same batch of enemies over and over again, but I can't stop! I want to advance the story but nooo... gotta go kill more Tonberries. :)

Just got to the 3 Amigos In The Training Room movie (at least, that's what I'll call it) and that was pretty sweet. I really hope this game has a theatre mode once I finish it as the movies are great.

Eh, only one set, which I've heard are of dubious quality. I'm waiting for Saizen (http://www.saizen-fansubs.com/)'s subs, which they are doing with A-E (http://www.anime-empire.net/anime-empire/index.php). Also, for some reason, Animesuki is no longer listing it. It isn't licensed, they just aren't listing it.

Spent most of my gaming time on FFXI this weekend. Helped a few buddies kill Shen for the whm reverend mail. Also did some Limbus last night.

On the side I did a few puzzles in Professor Layton and played a little Legend of Zelda LttP for my retro fix.

I played a little of Arcana Heart to the point where I'm mad I don't own a PS2 fighting stick. I can see the potential that the game presents, but I know I'm not going to fully experience it without a Hori Fighting Stick. Also, my criticism about the soundtrack still holds true - it's pretty uninteresting for a fighter.

I also played a bit of Quadradius, and my connection timed out a bunch times during play - which was great. I lost like five games because of that.

What else...oh, Brawl, right. I designed a couple new levels in Brawl and played about two hours of online games. My sister and I played a bunch of games with two people from a forum that shouldn't exist. It's back up today, unfortunately. Luckily we were able to beat a couple prominent members up in Brawl over the weekend.

For some reason, I played a few N64 games as well. Throughout Saturday I played through a little of Goldeneye. That game is still pretty fun. Not as fun as it used to be, but fun. I jumped into Paper Mario, which I wish I could sell and then repurchase on the VC, but I don't have any space left. The cart held some surprises for me when I first started it up. I let my friend barrow it awhile back, and his sister started a game. She's obviously not much of a gamer, as it took her six hours to beat the first chapter. The insane thing is, she was level seven when she completed it. The level cap is thirty.

I also played Rush 2049, and realized that it would be awesome if Midway released a download-only Rush game focused on three things: Races, Battles, and Stunts. There would also be the option to combine two of the modes. For example, you could have Mario Kart-style races if you combine Races with Battles, or you could combine Stunts with Races and earn boost for doing stunts, or you could combine Battle and Stunt so that no one is safe when they are in the middle of a trick. The wings should definitely make a comeback. They rock.

I played a series of online games in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin with brokenFUN. I have no idea what happened during those games, but they were played. I'm not sure if he could hear me, but I could hear him. We were using the DS headset, even though he requested my AIM SN. I really fucked up the funding one of the games, ugh. Still, at least I always remembered to enable Fog of War. Without Fog, the complexity of the game drops quite a bit, and certain units become useless.

EDIT: Yep, I completed the trilogy. I finally bought Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom on the VC, even though I haven't beaten the original Ninja Gaiden or The Dark Sword of Chaos. I didn't play but six minutes of Ninja Gaiden III, and I managed to beat the first boss with my first life. This game is looking to be much easier than the other two, which isn't a bad thing in my book.

I wish I coulda played more of the MGS Essential Collection (<3 VR Missions), Mana Khemia, and Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core but there's only so much time in a weekend.

Played a hell of a lot of Mana Khemia, and a tiny bit of Baroque. I think Mana Khemia is the best Gust alchemy game that's come out so far (compared to the 3 Atelier Iris games and Ar Tonelico). I finally forced myself to quit at what I think is the last save spot last night. Will probably beat it tonight.

Slowly working my way through Thief: Dark Shadows. I'm in the Pagan Sanctuary at the moment. I'm a bit of a "completist" in the Thief games. I like to get all of the loot and sap all of the NPC's in each mission. I got a little distracted as I was roaming around the city sections; I kept sapping citizens that were stupid enough to roaming around at night with bulging money bags and fancy jewelry! I'm pretty flush at the moment! $$$! I also need to remember to use the quicksave key more often!

Went out for a great motorcycle ride on Saturday - The sun came out for one day just to tease us. It was 38 and raining on the way into work today. :(

Spent most of Sunday redoing the main bath enclosure. What a bitch! Reminder to self: Make enough money to hire people to do this kind of crap for me!

Yeah, I can see how you'd be a bit spent after something like LO, but do make an effort to wrap up ES when you have some more time/energy for that sort of thing. I will say it has its share of quirks/annoyances, and some wacky pacing in certain sections, but the ending really redeemed all of that IMO.

I played the entire thing as a co-op game with my GF though, so it might help that there was someone else there to break up the gameplay a bit.. maybe try finishing it off like that if you're not already.

Oh.. and be sure to sit through all the credits -- "Fin.." in this case is not to be taken literally ;)

That assumes I have a wife who would be willing to even touch a game controller, let alone sit and play a JRPG with me. Now if I could borrow your girlfriend for a while... :)

I just got tired of fighting the same enemy multiple times in the game back when I was working on it last fall. I think that now that I have played through an outstanding traditional JRPG (with Lost Odyssey) and have been playing some other action-RPG's with multiple copies of the same enemy (Crisis Core) I am a bit more in the mindset to appreciate Eternal Sonata's quirks. It was really just the combat and the repetition therein that turned me off of the game. Oh well. It's not like there are a lot of JRPGs out for the 360 over the next few months, so I'll fire it up soon.

After cramming so many hours into that one for the last week and a half (renting RPGs can come back to bite ya), the rest of the weekend was spent working out in the yard, spending an anniversary with the missus, and getting back to my serious addiction of playing drums in Rock Band (which I'm still surprised as hell I can do).

Plus, they looked like they were having a good time, which I would expect of a live performance of theirs. Played some Rock Band later on in the weekend too.

I pretty much played what I intended to

Lots of FFT (PSP) and I nearly got all the achievements for Army of Two...it's just the online one that's giving me a headache. Billion dollars..seriously..why?...

It was a Mario Kart Wii weekend for me. Had a quick try at 150cc and got brutally raped by princess peach and gang. Back to 50cc for now I think...

Mario Kart is already out in Europe?

Damn! Lucky bastards! :D

I spent the best part of SAturday, trying (and failing) to get my Wii online. Unless I spring $70 odd for along enough cable and LAN adapter, I'm stuck with a horribly overcomplicated wireless method by runnng it though an old, busted laptop.

Other than that, I got 15 seconds TF2, a few rounds of Ikaruga and revisited Streets of Rage 2 with the mighty shaven ape, Max!

Wait a second, how did you play through all of lost odyssey in a week and a half? I've had the game since a week after launch and I still can't get myself to finish the last few hours of that game. Jeez!!!
It was a bitch, and in the end I actually wished I had bought it and savored it more. Hell, and I rented it with Dark Sector, and beat that too in the limited time I had.

Let's just say there was a lot of sneaking out of bed at 5am to start playing before the wife woke up, and I'm still trying to smack myself back into a regular schedule. But it did make two interminable weeks of waiting for GTA4 go by pretty distraction-filled!

As the resident Lost Odyssey fanboy around here, I bow down at the feet of Mindburn. You, my friend, are a master.

Or a very lonely unemployed person, which still makes you cooler than me :)
