Originally intended for release on 10/8 and was later pushed back to 11/9. Now producer Steve Snow announced (http://boards.autoassault.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=42885) that they will be extending the beta period into spring 2006.

The beta testing period has spawned some great ideas that we want to include before launch. NetDevil and NCsoft are both companies with a strong commitment to releasing “only when it’s ready,” so we want to extend the beta into the spring of 2006. Over this time, we are going to continue tuning, tweaking, and adding to Auto Assault.

Too bad, I was sort of looking forward to this game. I guess NCSoft knows what would happen to their initial fan base if they pulled a Matrix Online and released a half finished product. Its pretty hard to get those fans back.

This is probably a good thing.

As I don't see the game being retail ready in only a couple months.

Hopefully this means my chances of a beta invite have increased.

This game has a pretty novel concept. I'm not sure if it'll do well regardless of how "done" it is when they release it.

Just to note: NetDevil will not be inviting new Closed Beta testers at least for the time being, but they plan to proceed with their original beta plan for Europe.

Also, most of the testing that'll be conducted between the two countries will only be with the content that's currently available.

It definately needs this extra time, they've really got erradicate almost all lag for this game to be great. Also, the character creation system will need whatever extra definition they're adding or the game will suffer just like Earth and Beyond: Online did.

I'm happy it's being pushed back, gives me time to play City of Villians and Tabula Rasa beforehand.

I'm still hoping to get into beta on this as well. NCSoft seems to love doing beta with me, but I've still recieved no love on this one yet.

I wonder if a City of Villains pushback is coming some time soon? As someone pointed out when betas opened up, a mere two or three months of beta seems like a pretty short time...

Car Wars it ain't! But given time I hope it becomes a good MMO.

This sums it up nicely.

Anything that gives me a chance to

a) Beta test this game
and
b) play a fullly FINISHED game when it's complete

Im all down for

You guys remember when Guild Wars was beta right? It took it a year from when you could start preordering it to come out. This seems to be how NCsoft works anymore.

Those of you who also have the beta. Shut up! :)

Disclosing on a forum that you are a member of the beta also violates the NDA. Or so I hear :D

That is incorrect. They ask that people not lord it over others or troll with the information on the public community boards, but revealing you are in a beta is not a breach of the NDA (at least Auto Assault's). Don't quote this as the "NDA rule". Other games will have other rules.

I only revealed this knowing that it was okay. I'm very easy for the dev team to figure out and bar from beta if I breached the NDA. :)

Good, what little I've seen of it don't show much of the depth it'll need to keep players interested. Hopefully they'll be adding that with this delay.

Stupid NDA, trust me, nothing but good things can come from this delay. Frankly I am surprised that they didn't restart this one like they did Tabula Rasa
