Another week, another Weekly Release. Nothing too exciting this week really. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 finally gets split up into separate items in retail. Baroque hits both the Wii and PS2 and looks like another solid title from Atlus. Finally PC owners can head back to the times of the crusades, climb tall buildings, enjoy some classic architecture, and spill the blood of lots of people in Assassin's Creed for the PC.

Speaking of spilling blood, There Will Be Blood hits DVD and looks absolutely phenomenal.

Nothing for me; Baroque sounded less appealing once I really started digging into info about the game. I'm getting Persona 3 soon anyhow, so I don't really need another game right now.

I do want to see There Will Be Blood; I'll try to rent it this week.

Thus begins Atlus's bleeding of my wallet. I'll be getting Baroque and Arcana Heart. I probably shouldn't get AH, I'm not that into fighters. But it's cheap, and I'm a little curious. If I don't like it, I'll probably be able to sell it for at least the original price in a year or so.

I'd like to thank the gaming industry for being so considerate this month. I have to pay for a cruise and not buying games is making it a whole lot easier... I'm also slowly catching up on the backlog.

Probably just Arcana Heart for me. If I'm feeling extra devious I'll bring the Japanese version to trade in.

I thought "There Will Be Blood" was overrated. Daniel Day Lewis is quite good (though I didn't find him as amazing as everyone else seemed to think), but the movie didn't feel very cohesive to me. Even a character study should have a marginally compelling plot...

No excitement at all for Arcana Heart? I hear it's a deep fighter where you can choose which arcana to use with which, er, heart? All girls, anyone? Ability to home into enemies so you can air combo at least 3 screens high?

Oh well, more copies for us, then. :)

I agree, but his performance almost saves the show. The interactions between him and everyone around him are quite powerful from an acting perspective.

Looks like Ikaruga on XBLA might be the seller for the week.

I had a similar reaction to "No Country for Old Men". Lots of good acting, and very real interaction. But at the end of the day, it left me wondering why I should care. I hope it's not going to become a trend.

Ordinarily I would snap it up, but right now I'm not in the mood to be frustrated by a stringent difficulty level. I need things to relax me, not to wind me up...

Woo! After months on end of delays, finally Baroque!

Also picked up Assassin's Creed on Steam. Yay digital distribution!

I'm very curious about Baroque, especially how the controls work on the Wii. If it's more waggle stick bullshit, I think I'll just grab the PS2 version.

I'm a little disappointed here. A movie this pretty deserves a high-def release. I'll be waiting for Blu-ray.

Huh, Morose, I really liked No Country For Old Men. Admittedly, it's a bit slow, but at least I felt like they were going somewhere, as opposed to There Will Be Blood, which felt like endless scenes of, "And next he did this, and next he did this, and next..."

Someone wanna give some impressions of Baroque when they pick it up? I'm interested to hear what the punters think after the whole 3.0 thing.

Also Ubi can eat a packet of cocks for region locking their steam games.

I'm actually curious to hear the differences between the Wii and PS2 version. I'm getting the Wii version, but I don't really know which one is better. Someone will have to start a thread later this week with impressions (I will if no one beats me to it).

Prom Night. Ugh. A bad remake of a bad original.

I'm sure it will be as awful as the previews (that they show every 3 minutes on every channel, hoping it will burn itself into your mind) lead me to believe.

Gotta love the "brute force" ad campaigns. The sad part is, I think they actually work. There's too many stupid people out there.
They did the same thing for Meet the Spartans. Sigh.

I got this tip (http://wii.ign.com/articles/846/846484p1.html) from IGN:

Atlus has also released new details about the Wii version of Baroque:

- 16:9 widescreen support
- Progressive scan support
- "Subtle" motion control integration for power attacks
- "Intuitive" controls using Wii Remote and nunchuk
- Classic Controller support for traditional play

Pretty much, the only differences between the two versions are waggle and 16:9/480p support. Hopefully, the waggle is a positive addition but we won't know until we have Baroque in our hands. However, there is still Classic Controller support if they bomb the motion controls. Options, they are good.

I'd normally be getting Baroque but the more I read about it, the less I am interested. The setting sounds cool but otherwise it's not really up my alley.

It sounds like Dragon Quarter with even more repetition and hardcore dungeon crawling. I have too much on my plate and not enough time to devote to something like this.

Now, if the lot of you start raving about how this is the bestest game in the universe, I MIGHT snag it. I have a bit of extra money this month and this game does interest me in a conceptual sense, but it still really feels too much like a slog for me.

Thinking about Baroque, think I'm going to wait for platform vs. platform reviews. First reaction is to get the ps2 version and play it on ps3, but 16:9/480p native support on the Wii version sounds like the better option, particularly if the waggle bs is optional.

Since the point of Baroque is to die as often as possible, wouldn't it make sense to get the version with the worst controls?
