Joseph Staten, director of cinematics for Bungie, has an interesting post, which looks to be the first in a series, on the production process of the Halo movie (http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=greathollywoodjourney1&p=4542384).

Here's an awesomely non-representative quote:

So we've got a great script, we're working with two great studios. Should you still worry about the movie turning out, well, not great? Again, Mr. Garland:

"I'd say people are right to worry. I'm worried. In fact, everyone - in particular those working on the film - should be worried."

'Ah ahhhh aaaahh i'm a genius'

Seargent Johnson:

"Back in my day we didn't have fancy shmancy tanks. We had sticks. Two sticks and a rock... and we had to SHARE the rock."

I like the way Joe said the film is for people who played both games and read the novels.

Mmmm mmm film goodness :D

That's pretty hope-inspiring stuff. If they can live up to that, maybe we will have the first GOOD videogame movie on our hands. I'm already cringing, though, to imagined scenes of the Master Chief firing his gun in a 360 degree bulletime shot. Please don't make that movie, guys.

Finally some videogame designers who give a care for the creation of the movie... Atleast we won't have another 'super mario brothers the movie'.... terrible terrible...

There's one thing the Bungie guys can do very well: hype thier material.

Microsoft works on hype.

Bungie just lets the game do it for them. Release some screenshots, and watch the community hype the game for them with rampant speculation about what that green blob in the corner might be.
