Issue 7 of The Escapist (http://www.escapistmagazine.com), “Classical Studies,” is now available. Prominent writers such as Pat Miller, Jim Rossignol (http://www.big-robot.com) and Allen Varney (http://www.allenvarney.com) discuss topics ranging from the influence of Bungie’s Marathon to the Silver Age of interactive fiction.

The article on Planscape: Torment rocks. What a great game.
EDIT: The site doesn't work well with Firefox so use IE for reading the articles.

I have no problems reading the website in Firefox. What problems are you experiencing?

The text doesn't get messed up with Firefox on that link? My resolution is 1024*768, any reason why that could be happening?

Stupid question time - The Escapist is an online-only magazine, right? I would pay top dollar for this in a newsagent's.

You can get a PDF by subscribing (giveing an email addy).
Looks good for me in Firefox.
The article on IF was ok. It brought back some good memories I had a couple years ago when I was in the scene. There are some EXCELLENT IF games out there that can be played in an hour or two. Screw the latest nvidia card. Nothing competes with the resolution of the imagination.

Yup. Online-only and free-only. I'm still amazed by how quality they are considering both of those factors, but hell, I'm not gonna complain.

That's a shame, because I love print magazines! Short of taking my laptop to the bathroom with me, they're my only source of comfort during those special times of the day when I get to sit down and relax...

I'd love an ebook reader with some nice electronic paper and PDF capability. It looks like e-paper is getting close to the necessary resolution and price, so we may start to see such books soon.

HEY!
I thought the last time an issue of The Escapist came out that Evil (or someone) said it was the last time it was going to be mentioned as a news item as everyone should have a subscription by now.
I mean, you make a rule, then it gets broken and then nobody gets their fingers cut off... what kind of internet forum is this? :)
That said, I absolutely love The Escapist. It'd be nice if the tactile game magazines had the insightful articles that it does.
