Kazunori Yamauchi says that GT5 should be finished in 2007, making this GT5 a probable early "killer app" for the PS3.
While most of the interview related to the older games in the series, Yamauchi commented that he "hopes that GT5 will be finished during 2007", and that the next game will be "100 times more detailed than GT4" - although he didn't say whether this relates merely to graphics or also to other elements of the game, such as physics or vehicle tuning.
mmm, GT5, can't wait for the pre-rendered promo vids ;)

100x more detailed * 0 detail damage model = 0 detail

Yeah...Forza is decent. I'm not big on the whole sim racing games...but I know one of the #1 compalints about GT is no damage model.

Mmm predicted in 2007. Reality = 2008 ;)
I like Forza. I like the damage too. All driving games now need damage.

On-line, damage and more cars on track or bust Sony.
Ahh who am I trying to fool? I'll be first in line for this sucker :)

hehe yeah that video we saw of that GT game, obviously pre rendered but yeah I want that, full grids of 20 cars, full pit lanes, with full pit crews... lots of "full" there. Again, damage would be nice, but we have Toca 3 for that.
It seems GT has cornered the hardcore simulation area of motorsport games, whereas other games have cornered the racing area, they now need to do both to stand up to the <strongbad>competition</strongbad>

LMAO i just thought then. What would PS3 owners do if GT5 still had only 8 cars on rails?
Biggest let down EVAR!!!:D

From everything I heard, there WILL be damage modeling in this one. Looks like it's following the same release schedule as PS2, roughly a year after initial release of the system.
Kinda meh to yet another racing game, but I'll buy a PS3 for a God of War 2 or FF7 remake.

Just a heads up, porsche are in GT but referred to as RUF for some daft licensing reason.
Ferrari.. isn't their license owned by someone else? I know they continuously stop developers from including their cars in illegal activities or showing them getting damaged, but weren't the in PGR?
ahh stupid politics.

PGR and PGR 2 had damage models for all exotics including Ferrari.
Yamauchi has stated in the past that they will have damage modelling when they can do it "well" -- so apparently the PS2 could not do it "well". :D
Finally, yes, this does mean that GT5 (Gran Turismo Vision?) won't hit our shores until 2008.
P.S.- Where was this interview printed?

Let's see... every Gran Turismo game has been late (WAY late for the last two), and he's saying he "hopes" to have it done in 2007. And that translates to an "early killer app?"
Even if it makes 2007, it sounds like late 2007 is much more likely than early 2007, putting the game out a year and a half or more after the PS3 launch in "Spring 2006." Early killer app, indeed.

It will arive in 2007, but it will be like GT3 - kind of light on content. Then GT6 will deliver the goods, in 2009, but still won't have a good feature that will be standard, possibly having your car in more than one color, or no voice support, or even no online play.

I left GT4 on the shelf because of no online play.
Especially now that I've seen what Forza does with online even when you're NOT actually racing online, I definitely won't accept an offline GT game.

I love GT4 and I am looking forward to GT5.. It should be sweet!!! :D
Im not bothered about Online play or damage, I'm hoping for new tracks, more cars on the track and better AI.
People moan that there is no damage, but I reckon that if they add Damage, some people will just moan that they cant get anywhere because their cars keep getting destroyed etc.. It would be nice to see damage, but as I said earlier it doesnt bother me..
I thought Forza was ok, but I still Prefer GT4 :)
