So, I have a question.

We have a 360 at work. It's not connected to Live, but we have a good time playing eachother over lunch and at times after work. Since we are not connected online, we are unable to get the new maps. Is it possible for me to bring the HDD home, attach it to my 360, set up a dummy Silver account and download the maps that way? Are the maps even available to Silver members yet?

I'm not sure, CaptStu, but since Bungie has stated that they're requiring the new maps for some of the ranked playlists, I would assume Silver members have access to it. I watched the Major Nelson 'Major's Minute' on Live the other day dealing with the free pack and I don't remember him mentioning it was for Golds only. Give it a try!

I assume they have access to it, but Silvers can't play in ranked playlists I thought? (or play online at all, for that matter)

The harddrive option will NOT work because of the 360's DRM. (it does not matter that the content is free)

Because the download will be tied to the consoles serial number. so for you to use that downloaded content on the office 360 you would have to sign into live.

you are going to have to bring the whole console to your house and then download the maps. once you do that it wont matter if you never plug it into live again you will be able to use them.

Ah, perfect. Thank you.

Also, for new users who sign up for a gamertag, you get one free month of Gold. So even if you can't go Silver, you'll still be able to download them provided you activate your Gold account.
