Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=1205) is reporting that the Halo movie is scheduled to debut sometime in the summer of 2007. The story also hints that Microsoft may launch a new Halo game at the same time the movie is released.

In related news, a new Halo triple pack (http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000030055586/) has been announced putting all 3 Halo discs into one set for $59.99

Update: There's a really good article (http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=greathollywoodjourney1&p=4542384) on the Bungie website regarding the story of how the Halo movie came to be.

Mmmm i bet Halo2 will still be very popular for a long while after the Xbox360 is released. I can't see anything else replacing it on the horizon.

I can wait for the Halo movie. Fingers crossed it will be good.I can imagine Joe Staten and others from bungie being kicking up a fuss if they try and do something silly.

I don't want to hear about Halo 3 in 2007. It is so far away :( <fanboy crying> :D

i think the bungie boys have retained enough control to stop this being a daredevil or elektra or something. i just hope they get the budget they need in order to avoid having to use a guy in some cheap armour (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halo/news_6086541.html) playing the MC ;) also, wasn't there grumblings of halo360 when the PS3 comes out from high up the *** command structure?

Any film debuting in the same fiscal year as Transformers is doomed to fail! :)

OMFG that would be a awesome year for me since i am a big Transformers and Halo fan.

LOL Meatshake when you mentioned the Chief transforming into a warthog i automatically imagined it :D

Joe Staten would flip his lid if someone suggested that :D

For me i would love to have a trilogy of Halo films.

But isn't the map pack going to be free by then.....I'm confused. Our local Game Crazy (I think it was them) just dropped the Halo 2 price and Halo 1 is dirty cheap as well. Seems like a waste as you could still get them cheaper by themselves.

yeah, makes no sense. I guess it's for people without Live access.

Ah, could be. Would the pack, though, even be all that beneficial to someone who doesn't have Live? I occasionally play with friends offline - am having a Halo 2 lan party of sorts here on Friday - but that's really rare as I hate split-screen multiplayer. And wouldn't someone who's in need of the pack (or at least eyeing it) already have Halo 2 - and most likely the first? Who knows. I'm sure this'll benefit some people so that's a good thing, I just don't know who those people'd be.

I bought it because I'm a sucka for all things Halo. But it did come in useful at my last Halo 2 LAN party because we were able to get 4 machines running with all the latest maps in about 10 minutes. None of my friends had downloaded any of the maps. For me, it was worth 20 bucks. Hell, for that matter, everybody brought food money for the party and it actually paid for MORE than the food, so I can't even say that it cost me the $20 - probably more like $8-$10.

That's not too shabby then. And yeah, I think it's great that I can fire up the disc on a friend's box if he doesn't have it and we don't have to panic if we want to play maps that some of the people there don't have. That's one of the features of it (at least for me having picked up the pack early as opposed to waiting) that I was surprised by and really thankful of.

I'd give anything if the Halo Bible leaked. It contains information regarding the third Halo game and beyond. The complete history of the Halo universe.

They'd be ruined.

Let me guess what's gonna happen in this movie. Its gonna show planet earth in the trailers, and then take place some where else for 95% of the movie. Then reach a huge climax where master chief is about to engage in the greatest gun fight of all time, then the screen fades to black and says to be continued.
