We all know Grand Theft Auto IV is going to bring the win. But with that, it's also bringing the "Rockstar Social Club".
From GI.Biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/rockstar-to-launch-social-club-with-gta-iv): The Social Club - for which users can register with their Xbox Gamertag and/or PlayStation Network ID - will feature statistical leaderboards as well as performance-based competitions and awards.
GTA IV, the first game to be featured on the Rockstar Social Club, will offer features such as the LCPD Police Blotter - a virtual map and tracker of single-player activity based upon aggregated data of connected players - a special single-player leaderboard for the main story arc, a ranking of special physical milestones achieved in the game and a dynamic Hall of Fame.
Not only that, but the stats will be used to track the first 10 people to complete 100% of the game. Those 10 people will win a ultra-rare commemorative "key to the city" (I have no idea).
A lot of games are starting to do this more and more often. And I love it. It lets me live a little vicariously while at work, or just away from the game itself.
Scroll down to see the final GTA IV trailer!

Pretty sweet. I'm all for this kind of stuff. I especially like the one that tracks your physical feats, like distance traveled, shots fired, etc. April 29th get can't here soon enough.
What you think, Psyko? I'll drive while you ride shotty popping some hookers??

I'm more of a driver, actually. And even if I do drive, you'll have to shoot them down before I can run them over.

I had a good response to this, but it felt too soon. Especially living so close to NYC.
Ahem. On the other hand, these features sound great. I loved what Bungie did with Halo 2/3, this sounds like the same kind of system, but tailored to the GTA universe.

I love how they've managed to keep so many great things about the game quiet until the last few weeks (and seem to still be holding their cards close to their chest). Holy hell I can't wait. I think I'm going to have to "come down with an illness" on the 29th that prevents me from going to work.

Hopefully the first 10 will be real gamers and not Russian software pirates, that'd be embarrassing.

I think it'd be appropriate, I mean the game is about being a criminal, and this one's protagonist is Russian.

You no doubt mean "meh-tastic!" :p
All good man; different strokes and all. I never got Metal Gear and Crackdown myself ...
There's something about GTA ... the feel, style, etc that has an appeal to me. It's kind of a sum of parts kind of thing.

It's you.
I didn't care for GTA til this trailer came out. Now I must have it like a crack whore needs...er...crack.

Same here. Didn't think SA was that interesting after a couple of hours in. But this looks awesome. These guys are masters in putting a good soundtrack with their game.

Wow, I really like the new story (http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/grand-theft-auto-iv/gta-iv-unveils-new-music-download-model/1199430) about how you can "mark" any song you hear in the game that will then set up a custom playlist for you at Amazon so you can then buy the individual MP3 tracks or full albums. Now that's how you do in-game advertising that's actually useful. I know previous GTA games have warmed me to new songs I didn't know about or didn't think I'd like, so I'll probably wind up using this feature.
