Have you ever said to yourself, O.K I'm deleting that motherfucker. So you go to your MMORPG main site, and delete the account but then regret your decision? Hundreds of hours (Thousands?) Logged into a character, and gone in the blink of an eye.

So my question, have you ever deleted a character and regretted it later?

Eh, what games force you to delete your character at the site? Anyhow, yes, once or twice. Usually not a big deal though.

Some games allow you to delete your entire account, all characters.

Did you ever delete your character?

I always figure there's no point in deleting your character. Quit? Yeah, sure. I haven't touched Wow in months (although I'm picking it back up here shortly), but I wouldn't delete a character. I can always just go back and have some fun if my friends ever got back into the game, an expansion came out, etc. For instance, I haven't played Wow in months, but my brother's guild needs a character I have in my possession, so I'm re-subscribing and joining up so I can run all the newest raids. Raids are the heart of the game, I can't let it go.

Valid point, and I do agree. Unless you have like a major addiction problem.

I regret giving all of my items and money away the first time I "quit" FFXI. I've never really deleted a character I've poured a lot of time into though.

The MMOs that I tend to invest the most time in are the ones I find myself coming back to to check up on things.

I never delete characters...let them rot away, maybe, but never delete.

I'm with 1019. I've cancelled my WoW account and some older MMO accounts but I've never deleted the characters. I'm still thinking I might pop back into WoW once the new expansion hits and I want my old twinky around.

I have a character somewhere on FFXI if they didn't delete it on me many years ago. Of course, I just made a whole new account this time around and started from scratch again... not that I was terribly far (or would have remembered what to do).

The only characters I've ever deleted were a few level 1-2 alts on WoW that were never touched.

I've never deleted a character and regretted it, but I have had Diablo 2 characters deleted for inactivity and regretted that.

I've never deleted a character, but like UWCrash, I gave away all my items once.

In Star Wars Galaxies, I had about 2 million units of a fantastic and rare resource used for crafting. It was worth a lot. I logged back in about 6 months after all my friends had quit, just to set my affairs in order, and saw one of the leaders from a well-respected Imperial guild strolling through town. I donated all of that resource to him on the spot, plus a couple million credits and a few other choice items I had on me.

I definitely don't regret it. I don't really intend to go back to SWG ever, and I like to think that a couple hundred Rebels died because of my generosity.

I've never deleted any of my characters, I've always just cancelled my account.

Since I generally play MMOs with a constant group of people that go from game to game, if I leave before they do I'll just give them my stuff. Not quite deleting, but close enough.

I regretted letting my FFXI character lapse with three months of inactivity. Six solid days lost! That's not much for an MMO, but it felt like a lot at the time. I always kinda wanted to come back.

Fortunately, I was able to recover the character with the Return program when I joined up again last month. Apparently, they kept the character on their files for four years.

I have been clean now and off MMO's (i.e. WoW) for 3.5 years now. Does UD count as an MMO? If so it would seem I have lapsed.

Why would you ever delete a character? Most mmos Ive played you can cancel your account without deleting your character. Never understood why people delete.

I've seen crazy screenshots of people dropping all their insanely expensive or rare gear. I never understood it myself. I guess I can see doing it if you are really addicted to a game and can't overcome the urge to play. Still, I'm with the rest of you guys, just let it go inactive so that you can come back one day and pick up where you left off if you choose to. I've been WoW free for over a year but my 70 priest is still around. I was away from FFXI for a year and now I'm playing again. My character was still sitting there waiting for me. I'm just glad I didn't have to do it all over again.

When I moved my hunter from Dragonblight(along with my warrior) to Quel'Dorei to help a friend and his guild I deleted all my alts on DB(Was paying 100$ for the move, my 2 chars, and my girlfriends 2 chars) so I deleted a 30th pally, 30 shaman and 32 priest. Well I got bored the other night and I regretted the deletion on the shaman so I picked my one freebie and had blizzard undelete my shaman for me since it had only been about a month and they did it, but I used my one free pass.

I never delete any chars when I quit a MMO just incase a great expansion or something comes along and I want to try it again.

That said a couple of times I have handed out money and items to friends or even random strangers.

oh, kinda like the guilt you feel after jacking off, deleting the porn but regret over it a few days after?

GOD YES I WENT THERE :D

I must have made a good 30 different characters on my old single account in Shadowbane, so I deleted a good 20ish of them over the years. Regretted a few, but thats just a function of the game itself. You need to rebuild your toons each time a new patch is released, so you end up deleting a few. But then accounts went free, so now I just make new accounts. Screw deleting, anything can be salvaged.

I quit Runescape some years back because of my cousins. They friggin drove me off it, with their constant nagging for money! So I distributed my considerable assets between them, handed over my character to one of them and left for good.

Later I learnt they squandered the money, got my account hacked and otherwise depleted the huge multi-million goldcoin legacy I had left them in a matter of months.

But I didn't really regret quitting runescape or not having my character anymore, I was pretty bored of it...except sometimes I think I should've donated my wealth to an in-game charity instead of family. Maybe I'll do that with my real money!

Who says MMOs teach you nothing!

I don't regret deleting characters...I regret Blizzard deleting my characters.
I lost two level 99 Diablo 2 characters because I forgot to log in to my b.net account and keep them active.
