RevoGaming (http://www.revogaming.net/html/modules/news/article.php?storyid=73) has the scoop from the Lezpig convention that Peter Molyneux of Populous and Black and White fame has gotten a first hand look at the Revolution controller. Here's what he said about it: "There is a line at the end of the book 'Game Over' and it is: 'Never underestimate Nintendo'. That is all I can say about the controller."

Not much info there....we inch ever closer to seeing exactly what all this fuss is about. I just hoped it's not overhyped.

Thanks Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com) for the tip.

But Molyneux and "overhyped" go so well together.

I jest.

I'm stoked about the Revolution and Molyneux is pretty sweet too, so here's to hoping!

Fingers crossed it will be good :)

Maybe it has a trackball built into it, Ive always wanted that for a console gamepad mainly for RTS.

There's not much point worrying about whether it will be overhyped, it already HAS been overhyped and short of opening a portal to a parallel universe, it will dissapoint. At least initially anway.
Still, I literally can't wait to see what strange nonsense they've come up with!

There is no way a controller will ever live up to the hype the buzz around this thing is generating. Prepare for disappointment. I mean what could it be? If it's different enough to impress at first glance the actual functionality of it will likely be poor.

Aye, I do expect there to be some disapointment, I really don't think they'll be doing anything that will make our pants explode, but I expect it will be good

Pity there will be sizable number of fanboys who will jump on it and rant about kidtendo being overhyped for fags on the gaypube lol.

Kinda like an arms race. Which company can out-hype the other without causing the industry to implode.

That would rule- I'd love to meet the evil, goateed version of myself.

Then you must be in the wrong universe, haven't you seen the "introduce yourself thread" everyone else in here is the evil, goateed version of themselves.
Edit: I challenge thee to find at least one post-puberty member of Evil Avatar who is not in the slightest evil or bearded. Except for kelegacy as nothing about that man is quite clear as his signature proves. He is shrouded in folklore, legend and myth. I have heard he is both bearded and clean shaven. And ten feet tall.

I really don't think it will have a trackball. I would be suprised if it has more than one analog stick though.

Brainwaves ! That's right, the controller will have a built in brainwave sensor and instead of holding it, gamers will wear the controller like a hat ... Finally !!! ...we will be able to play games and masturbate at the same time !

What? How old are you? You must be quite young ifyou haven't yet mastered that skill. ;)

Hell, it's a skill that every gamer needs, surely!

The line at the end of this book?

"Never overestimate Peter Molyneux."

If you were Pete Moly, wouldn't you be lukewarm on EVERYTHING when talking to the press at this point?

Peter, how was the birth of your first son?

"Eh, you know...it was alright. Whatever."

P.S. I heard the controller is just a motorized scooter.

I don't understand Nintendos strategy here. Even IF the controller is the most amazing invention known to man, how will they prevent Sony and MS from releasing some variant of this controller for their consoles? I question patent laws ability to protect them enough here. Obviously they feel the same way, or they would have said what it is by now.

From where I am sitting its either:
1) not really impressive OR
2) will be copied shortly after release

Ahem, I'm in my late thirties and have no goatee. Whether or not I'm evil is not for me to say...

BTW, I may have grown a goatee had I been born with the correct hormones for lip hair. Unfortunately, I was not!

I've heard he can fire lightning bolts out of his ass.

Unless the Revolution's controller is entirely unfunctional, I don't really care what it's like. The Revolution is the only console I'm going to bother with initially, simply because the new Playstation and Xbox are both overpriced and fall into the "trying to perform every entertainment function known to man" category.

Maybe the Revolution's controller'll be like a Guyver unit; touch it to your forehead and BOOM! Instant super-suit.

I'm no longer goateed. Though I am ten feet tall.

Anyway, as long as the Rev controller gets the right amount of time for negative fallout to clear, it should do fine. Remember, the DS got plenty of negative feedback before the launch, and after the launch, and it's still a commercial and gameplay success. MS should have revealed the two configs a little earlier, in my opinion, but most of the negativity will be forgotten in the run-up to launch, once all the videos start showing up.

You are a woman, which makes you evil by default....just how evil is the question.

I have to laugh because I indeed have a goatee. But as far as trusting anything Peter Molyneaux says, I have one word "Fable". Nintendo is going to have to do better than "I have a secret, cool controller...buy me instead of the PS3 or Xbox2!!"

Until Nintendo actually starts releasing info about their system, it really doesn't exist to me. Just my opinion though...

Oh come on a three day shadow falls well within the beard limits as set down by the United Nations Hair and Beard charter of 1962 when the "Man" was trying to keep the kids down and the hair neat.

You are slightly, stubbly bearded. Which goes to prove that we here all have the Evil Face hair...this would be the 'evil side' my friend!

On a side note, I don't want to know why you have stuffed animals behind you...but please clean the jizz off of the wall behind you (lower right hand corner).

Ha Ha Ha!
Just kidding man...
