View Full Version : Nintendogs - Chihuahua for $14.99

As stated, the Chihuahua version of Nitendogs is on sale for $14.99 at Amazon. The Dachshund and Labrador Retriever version are regular price, $29.99. Does not seem to have free shipping.

I found this on SlickDeals.net (http://www.slickdeals.net/). You might want to go here and read up on some of the posts; one commented on a October 1 shipping date. So YMMV.

The direct link to Amazon Nintendogs Here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009YDS0Q/ref%3Dnosim/slickdeals/103-6804034-0521452). Amazon is shipping it from Target. A search on Target.com yield no result for the game itself, so I don't know if this will be a web only price or if you can go to their store and get that price and not deal with e-commerce and shipping date all together.

desidera in tensione il cane!

Update: (August 22, 2005) The price is back to $29.99 for the Chihuahua version at Amazon. And it is shipping from ToysRUs instead of Target. It seems that the deal is dead. COngratz to all that got in on the deal.

Well, no matter which version of Nintendogs you buy, you will be able to get the exact same content. The version just determines the dogs you start out with initially. It's a marketing stunt to have all 3 versions and is capitalizing on the success of the franchises. Woopdidoo...who cares.

Yeah, I ordered my version this morning. Seemed like too good a deal to pass up since I'm sort of interested in the game.

I'd order mine. . . but I can't wait for shipping.

I am a completely insane dog-lover, but I'm also a college student who travels. I'm the kind of person who visits my parent's house to see the dogs, and I probably make over a thousand dollars a year house-sitting for people with dogs.

So, I totally want a dog, but can't have one until my life is a bit more stable (like when I have a good job and can afford to live in a place with a fenced yard.) I actually could find such a place right now, but I see myself moving to other schools in the future.

Tired of being a poor student. . . so many of my life decisions are based on being poor.

However, I CAN spring an extra $10 (only $10 savings after you count shipping costs) to get my Nintendog early. :)

Sometimes living in Canada sucks. I can't pre-order because they won't ship over the border unless it's a book, DVD, VHS or music. *sighs*

In my humble opinion, the Dachshund edition is the overall best package. However I'd love to have the Welsh Corgi in the Labrador Retriever edition.

I believe all versions have the same dogs, but you have to unlock the ones in gameplay that are not readily available on the version you bought.

Well when games are built on concepts other than gameplay, you can do this sort of thing. Since enjoying the dogs IS the game, it makes sense that they would sell different packages with different dogs. It's essentially a different game. Granted, this only hold true for people who can't unlock the other dogs...

Maybe they figured they were forced to do it this way. Afterall, they might lose sales to people who couldn't start out with their favorite kind of dog, and if they made ALL the dogs open to begin with, they wouldn't be able to have any kind of progression in the game.

Now if Mario was a hot woman, and they sold different packages with different looking Mario's... then they would most likely be able to sell multiple versions...

Incidently, does anybody remember how this is a complete rip off of an old screensaver game called Dogz? I only played the demo, but it seemed like a 2d versin of this exact same game. The only diffrence was that your dog ran around on your desktop and played with your icons and such. You interacted with him via the mouse, and you could pet him... snap your fingers... throw a ball... use a rag toy on him... etc...

ah I wouldnt say complete rip-off..

Id say its different to dogz as much as dogz is different to tamogatchi

Oh my gosh I never realized! It is just a scheme to make money! Wow, you are so smart. So much smarter than everyone else who is so stupid falling for this scheme. Wow. It must be hard living in this world when you are so much smarter than everyone else around you. Thank you for helping us.

But seriously, this looks like a good deal. And probably a mistake that will be rectified once a zillion kids start ordering it. Act fast, yo.

More off a rip-off than NFL 2K stole from Madden? More of a rip-off than Tiger Woods stole from Links?

How can a simulation be considered copying, anyway?

Regardless of what age group and demographic this game is aimed at, there is a certain fascination with the game that I admit is tempting. Personally, I don't care which version is available as in my book any dog is a good dog. That said, some dogs are more trainable than others. I wonder if this is taken into account in the game.

Back when the PSP came out, I trade in my DS for it. The reason: I couldn't handle the touchscreen all 6 buttons and the D-pad all at once. I am still searching for how you are supposed to control everything.

Anyway, with the recent DS price drop, I think this might actually be something to consider. Is it work ~$169 + tax? I don't know. I think I'll wait till the demo is available on store copies of the DS.

Turned out that you are right. I googled and found a few unlock lists for the Chihuahua version. It has all the other dogs.

So you all know.

Anyways, my girlfriend is a huge dog-lover but we can't actually have any dogs at our apartment, so I'm definitely taking advantage of this. Anyone have any idea if Amazon charges when the item ships or before?

This actually isn't like Pokemon. You can unlock ALL of the same content on all 3 versions, there's nothing really different/exclusive between them except the dogs available at the start (before you've unlocked all the other ones).

Pokemon's different versions often have different story lines/creatures between the versions that are exclusive to each copy.

Ummm... did you ever actually play any of the games? I'm trying to think of any game for the system that features unique functions mapped to every button and the touchscreen all at once, and I'm drawing a blank. Did you also give up on the N64 because you couldn't manage all 10 buttons, the D-pad and the analog stick simultaneously?

I agree, what kind of stupid remark is not being able to get round all the buttons and touchpad at once? Like the fukn N64, was 2 different controls in 1. Possibly 3 for some of the spastic layouts it had. Oh and that keyboard you are typing on? 104keys and only ten fingers? Wat the hell were they thinking.

It's one hand for pad. One hand for buttons. Or both for buttons or both for pad, depending on the game. None of the games were as stupid as you so as to utilize all the buttons at the same time...

I'm sorry, you aren't stupid. I am.
Peow peow.

So, to recap: Nintendo screws people with Pokemon by "forcing" even the dedicated, knowledgeable fans to buy every version. With Nintendogs, they're just trying to screw the people who don't research the games beforehand. :D

Disclaimer: I play Pokemon games (or at least one per release - I don't need to "catch" every color) and I'll likely be picking up Nintendogs next week. :)

People who actually want to play nintendogs instead of dicking around on internet websites, demonizing capitalism in all its forms might want to buy the game.

I might buy it, but I've got my eye on advance wars ds.

I use Amazon pretty exclusively for buying online, but then again that's mostly because they have a good selection for used stuff. I almost never buy new on it.
