RPG Vault has posted a Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault Interview (http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/643/643497p1.html), talking with Lead Designer Andrew Chambers on Relic's expansion for its hit RTS set within the dark, violent wargame property.

Just wanted to point out that you can buy Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War for cheap now on Gogamer.

Was the SP campaign for this any good? I suck at RTS's in MP, but I generally enjoy the SP if the plotline is any good. I've got no knowledge of the W40K universe though...

I thought it was pretty entertaining and cinematic. Certainly worth it now that it's a bit cheaper than it was. It is rather short though, so be warned. Still, the skirmishes vs the computer are lots of fun by themselves, as well.

The single player campaign for the game is a bit weak, you only get to play as one side and the missions are more for learning to play then anything else. The expansion is supposed to have a multi-race campaign so im looking forward to it.

that said...

It's fun and one of the better RTS of recent memory. The SP plotline was OK, nothing to write home about but nothing terrible either. You needn't have extensive knowledge of the 40K universe to enjoy the game.

I thought the single player campaign was great, though Testcase is also 100% right... very structured to teach you the ropes of the game and experiment with new units in an orderly fashion from mission to mission. MAYBE a bit on the short side, but honestly it was just the right length for myself, and fully enjoyable to play through.

Skirmishes vs. the computer, like Librum said, are really fun for those of us who suck at RTS vs. real people (myself included), and the whole game experience is just really top-notch.

The important question:

When?

I wrote a review of this game for EvilAvatar.

EA, do you still have that review? I think I can get it on wayback.

I loved Dawn Of War, if it had all the races in the campain it would have been better then WarCraft 3 IMHO.

It's my understanding that it was originally aimed to be a budget title as well. Only after people saw how cool it was going to be was more money put forward for the title.

The Relic dev team that made that was pretty average. Relic's Company of Heroes has like 120 people on the dev team. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

I enjoyed it, thought the singleplayer was short (only the 1 faction) but the story itself was pretty cool. Multiplayer is fun too.

And most of you don't even remotely know about some of the amazing War40k mods coming for this game!!! Some are even better quality then the expansion itself ! ! ! Further, you thought the Skirmish AI for the original game was decent.. we're releasing v1.3 of our Advanced Skirmish AI that totally blows away the original. More enhancements to come when the expansion is supposedly going to export more advanced AI functions. <rubs hands in anticipation!> Go here for all your DoW Modding needs:
