Excellent. The Survival and Beast Mastery talent trees for hunters seemed all but useless.

This will make a lot of defence warriors angry. Why did Blizzard doe this? There are already almost no defensive warriors.. nerfing them is just a bit weird....
The problem is, for my Hunter, I'm a marks build so I'm going to have to completely reconfigure how I choose to play the game, otherwise my critic won't be nearly as good and neither will my DPS. It won't make or break me completely, but it's a serious pain (as most Hunters go with the build I chose, using 'aim shot' as a primary crippling blow followed up by 'concussion' and now that won't be nearly as effective), and it's a poor balancing issue. I realize they're trying to put everyone on somewhat an equal playing field for BG and regular PvP, but for someone who rarely PvP's, this sucks.
For me, my pet is merely an agg holder and bonus damage dealer and with this new arrangment, Blizz is - essentially - asking me to either focus my talents more in Survival (which is, I believe, optimal for up-close combat which Hunters aren't built for) or make me even more reliant on my pet's abilities so that if he dies, I'm then in greater trouble. As it stands now, if my pet dies while in combat, I still have a pretty good shot but with this new build, that might be harder to accomplish, depending on the mob. And, on top of it all, I have to pay 10g to unlearn my talents and then redistribute them because of this patch. That's just a slap in the face and unnecessary.
Seriously, if you consider yourself a brave man, hit the WoW Hunter forums (or even the General ones) and see what people are saying about the patch - the people there are all 12, so it'll take some courage on any person's part. You'll have to sift through a bunch of whine to get to the legitimate complaints, but they're there and they make sense. Most Hunters are really unhappy with this patch because our main focus is 'nerfed' and while it's cool other aspects are getting some nice treatment, it's simply upsetting they go and warp 1/3 of the tree to do it.

I agree. The only thing I can think of is what I kinda put in my post about trying to balance things out for PvP more. Problem being, though, not everyone is into PvP and this, possibly, puts them in a particular build that won't help them much in PvE. One suggestion I saw floating around somewhere was to have the ability to set-up a build for each play time so when you, say, go into a BG your PvP build will get flagged and vice versa.
This is one of those things that just makes me confused about MMO's....you know, that panicked attempt by developers after the game is out to them try and make it all better.

You will get a free respec.

Is that in the patch notes? I gave em a quick look-over but I didn't see that there and so many people on the forums were pitching fits and saying they weren't that I just figured I hadn't missed anything.
If that respec is true, that's at least some good news. Not sure where I'm going to put things now though as all of my gear is centered on the one aspect.

As a arms (future arms/fury) warrior, I'm still bothered with the class... I need a rage ring, some ungry underpants or some kinda of trinket... Rage potions shouldn't effect healing potions for one... It's not enough rage... We have to build up while people with mana enter the field with all their powers at the ready...
Oddly enough Shamans were not touched at all... O_o

Hunters
Due to significant talent changes, Hunters will have all talent points refunded and can be respent. Training costs for all talent spell/ability replacements have been significantly reduced.
They did this for warriors on patch 1.5 i think it was... Don't waste the freebie... I did adding all my same moves back... Now I see reason to got some fury points and I have to spend 5g to redo it... I'm just gonna wait until lvl 60 myself...

Ah, very good then. May have to hold onto my respec if I can and rearrange everything at 60 for an attempt at a final build. Should hit 55 tonight, so I'm close enough.

All this lack of Mage love must mean they're just saving up lots and lots of great stuff for the Mage 'rework' in the next patch, when we get back Invisibility and a way to deal with out of control resists. Right?
Right?

I am so glad I finally got over my WoW addiction. After a few months of being lvl 60 and raiding the same places over and over and over again I realized that with everything Blizzard did right with this game, there was SO much they didn't do. How many times do you have to almost totally change a class before you get it right?

Supposedly they're trying to fix druids with this patch and the next one... so maybe I'll finally be able to bitch-slap people who call me a healer.

Well, Blizzard made some pretty serious changes in the original Warcraft series and especially in the 'rebalancing' of Starcraft, plus all the oodles of changes over the years to Diablo 2. So that's sort of their 'thing'. I'd rather them keep tweaking and experimenting than not.

Ugh. Every time there's a WoW related patch I get the urge to play again. GET THE X-PACK OUT, BLIZZARD, PLEASE!

Might be because Shaman have been nerfed every patch since 2 patches *BEFORE* release.

I wouldn't worry too much about the skill tree updates for the hunters, Blue. From what I've read, they've changed the survival around from being a "melee" tree to being a "keep the hunter alive better" tree. There are two abilities that one might think are for "melee hunters" but actually serve to help the hunter stay at range now. Counterattack becomes active after you parry, and it does 40 dmg and immobolizes the target for 5 secs, which is great for a ranged hunter. Blizzard was kind enough to give us a talent calculator, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/hunters/talents.html. Check it out if you haven't already, but for a marksmanship hunter (like me) this patch is VERY promising. Hell, the first ability in survival gives you 3% to crit against humanoids; sign me up!

Blizzard keeps patching the game as though it is entirely PvP based. Ah well, no more switch to 2H on dodge, cast overpower, switch to 1H+Shield bullshit. Even still, Hunters just got tons better. I might even allow them in my groups.

Read it again.
Increases all damage caused against Humanoid targets by 3% and increases critical damage caused against Humanoid targets by an additional 3%.
It'd be a much better patch if they hadn't nerfed Mortal Shots so hard. Good bye 2700 aimed shot crits...
