I would like to see a -real- Suikoden game brought to the PSP... I'd sooo buy one then.

Just announced and due in November already? Anyone else worried that that's a bit fast?

Take a look at those faceless graphics and the answer will come to you.
I've been wanting a new tactics game lately but this has me worried. I agree with Perigon on the graphics and the speediness (is that even a word?....moving on) of the announcment/release has me hesitant, but maybe it'd be worth a rental. I really enjoy the Suikoden series - it's at least a welcome distraction when there's no other rgp's around - and so I'd hate to not at least look into this, but we'll see.
And yeah, this really would work out perfectly for the PSP. Ac!d is still my fav of the games out now for it and I would like something else to just sit on the couch and play without distraction.

It's the gameplay that I'm worried about, although I think the graphics might be giving a good sampling of what to expect.

Suikoden has recently jumped the shark with Suikoden 4. I'm going to wait for reviews and given the release date, I'll almost definitely wait for a markdown.

That is typical suikoden art, looks pretty damn sweet to me.
But then again, I'm not somebody who is noted for continual bashing upon J-RPGs, unlike somebody else...

I -like- Suikoden games, this doesn't look anything like a Suikoden game. Look at the character's faces, the terrain, any part of the 3D graphics. The 2D art is superb, but the rest looks like walking crap.
BTW, this isn't a J-RPG, it's a tactical RPG that happens to be from Japan. I'm a fan of tactical RPG's, and have expressed this on several occassions.

Go get Makai Kingdom. It's by Nippon Ichi, and it's alot like Disgaea, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle, FF: Tactics, etc etc.

Has anyone played La Pucelle? Because I'm giving considering to tracking it down... Is there anything specific that sets it apart from other games?

I believe (in Japan) it came out before Disgaea, though here in the states it came right after. I havent played it, but it probably offers much of the stuff as Disgaea, though probably not everything, and thus less than the complexity of Phantom Brave. That might be a good thing.

Heh... I just looked at a wallpaper for La Pucelle... Seems like it should of been titled Dead or Alive: Xtreme Tactics.

Yeah, the main thing with La Pucelle is that it came out before the other games, so I've heard in some ways it's like a step back from Disgaea and late incarnations. I still plan to check it out eventually, probably.
