ATI (https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=293) has released version 5.8 of their Catalyst Driver suite. Some fixes include: - Battlefield 2: Geometry corruption or missing textures are no longer noticed when playing the game for an extended period of time under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon® X800 XT installed
- GTA: Vice City: Setting the desktop and the game display option to 1024x768 32bpp and attempting to play the game under Windows XP MCE, no longer results in an Invalid Pixel Format message being displayed after approximately 5 minutes of game play
There's also a bunch of fixes for various video modes and output modes.

Wow. There's quite a difference in the file size for Windows XP (33MB) and for Windows "Vista" (4.1 MB). If this is the case going forward with the new Operating System count me in.

hey Bap, thanks for posting these. If you didn't I'd probably never update my drivers until the next game over didn't work right :o
I have anecdotal evidence (i.e. my BF2 teammates) that this release significantly improves framerates in BF2. One of my friends reported an average of 10-20 FPS improvement.

The Linux version of these drivers still makes my computer hang when launching OpenGL applications. I suspect AGP Fast Writes is the culprit. Anyone know how to disable that when I can't do it in the BIOS?

If you read the whole thing, it says DISPLAY DRIVER ONLY
no control panel...no other software suites ...!
