THQ and Revolution Software have announced Broken Sword 4 (http://www.adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=1045) and is slated to be released for the PC in the summer of 2006.
Here's a bit about the fourth game in the series...
Details of the new title are thin, but according to the official press release, the new game "sees unwitting hero George Stobbart fall in love with a mysterious and beautiful woman; a woman whose sudden disappearance draws him into a desperate search for a nefarious artifact of great and terrible power. Unfortunately for George, it looks like the world needs saving one more time."
Thanks to Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com/) for the tip.
Anyone else besides me enjoy this series?

Fun enough. There was a most excellent port of BS1 to GBA, well, apart from the game breaking bugs...

I personally loved BS3: The Sleeping Dragon. One of the most satisfying adventure game endings ever.

The final moments of BS3 were so ridiculous and silly that I'm having a hard time imagining how they are capable of digging themselves out of that hole for this next game.
The Broken Sword games are good. One of the very few decent adventure series left.

I like them when they were 2d classics, the latest one was... how do you say.... not good?

BS3: The Sleeping Dragon was good but had one HUGE pain in my side, which was the control scheme. Much like Grim Fandango and Monkey Island 4, the controls suck which is sad because there was GREAT content in all three games, but the controls ruined alot of moments for me.

I played the first one on of all platforms the PS1, loading times that would try the patience of a saint!
But I enjoyed it, it's combination of fully animated sequences and equally nicely animated sprites was nice.

Loved the first two to bits. Third one I'm still working through but not enjoying as much. I'm glad, however, that they're still using the same voice actors and the same awesome style of inspector morse music.
Blurb on the new game sounds a little...familiar.
The world needs more adventure games.
Kudos to those who are adventurous enough to release them.

The first two in the series were great, haven't got to try BS3 yet unfortunately. This is great news, gives me another game to look forward to :)

I am definitely excited. I loved the first two as well and I am still working through the last one. The load times are craptastic and it is hard to "want" to play a game when you know that half the time you will just be sitting there watching a load screen.

I never got a chance to play the first Broken Sword game but I loved BS2. BS3 was great in many aspects but I agree with everyone else that it wasn't as good as the second.
That said, George is an awesome 'hero' and anyone who puts out an adventure game these days will definately see some of my hard earned cash. Anyone who puts out a GOOD, non-Myst-ripoff adventure game, that is... If I want to watch a slide show, I'll fire up Picasa...
