I have a level 11 Undead Rogue on the Thrall server and am kind of stuck. I'm trying to do a couple of quests that involve close-quarter, multiple-enemy combat (Dargol's Skull in the Family Crypts and Captain Perrin in a tower for Scarlet Crusade). Usually when I am engaged by multiple enemies, it ends in my death. Is my best bet to hang around Brill and try to hook up with someone for a group run or are there other options I'm not considering/don't know about. Short of doing a resurrection run straight to the boss (got me Nissa's remains)? :) So far, I've just soloed everything. TIA.

I have a level 35 undead rogue i've had for ever and a day so I truly don't remember what I did in those levels specifically, but for me I found it easier to hoof it over to Org, and do the quests in the Orc/Troll areas at start and move along. I found the progression better, and personally I hate Silverpine and a lot of the undead areas.
Take the zeppelin in Brill over to Durotar. Do all the quests in Razorhill, then head to the crossroads in the barrens. You will have plenty of solo quests to keep you moving along.

Are areas rated differently for experience? Say if I go to Durotar, will enemies be around my level? I don't want to get over there and everything is level 40.
NM. I found the region level chart on the main wow site. Thanks for the tip. I sort of feel attached to Brill, though. I have gotten to know the land so well. :)

Some of the undead starting area quests are a bit nasty, especially for a Rogue as you don't have some vital survival skills yet. Do as the others said and GTFO to Durotar.
Regardless of which Horde race you play as, you cut your teeth in Durotar/Barrens. Expect to be there till around level 25+ (more so if you want to kick some ass in the WC and get the shiny Cresent Staff, the Warlock dream weapon at that level)
Just be prepared for a lot of inane Barrens chat. That, and level 70 ally people hanging out around the crossroads laughing at noobs who try to attack.

Prior to TBC, Tirisfal was my favourite place to start out Horde-side. I still think it's the nicest-looking place (if they spruced it up with the new UD architecture in Wrath that'd be nice, but I doubt they will) but these days if I start a new character I'll take them to Falconwing Square as soon as I finish the 1-5 starting area. I've found, better progression, better rewards. Especially the free blue when you finish the level ~20 quest in Ghostlands.
As for your specific problem, with those Scarlet Crusade quests with the named guy accompanied by a couple of guards, I would typically use the sleeping powder I got from another quest to subdue one of the guards and nuke the named guy. (edit: As Deadend pointed out, you get Sap at 10, so you'll want to use that before the powder if there are 2 guards) It can be a bit slow-going though, and take a couple of tries. I think you have sprint by now, be sure to keep that ready to make an escape if you need to.

I just got sap and sprint and haven't even used them yet. Will have to get some practice in with those. Thanks.
I was wondering what was going on. It seems like there's hardly anyone around Brill besides myself. I might run into like 10 people all day.

If you surf over to the official site, they have a list of all the zones and their level ranges if you poke around a bit. If you can't find it, let me know but it should be easy enough to find.

Rogue was the one class on WoW that I always wanted to play, but found the low levels so boring that I never got above level 20.
I personally don't mind Tirisfal and Silverpine.
I usually take my Orc/Troll characters to Brill to level.
And Shadowfang Keep has some awesome items for most classes. My 70 Mage must have used the robes and belt of Arugal until like level 35. The shoulder pads you get in there too, although I can't remember the name. Something Mantle?

Rgoue is a very fast class to level up. I find it strange that your having dificulty leveling up, as i remember the undead starting areas are very easy and very fast to play trough, geting to silverpine is not hard, silverpine itself tho, that one had some pretty messed up quests, at least at the time i played in it.

I got stuck with my NE rogue in a similar situation. I eventually gave up because it was becoming so tedious.
I loved my multiple hunters though.

Make a rogue on the VashJ server! You are still low level and getting back to 11 would be a snap. You could join the EvAv guild as wel and get help for those troublesome quests.
Myself though, I never leveled a Rogue. Just don't have the energy to do it. But any class, including Rogue I would level in the BE lands. There's a Rogue trainer as well in the BE lands so you don't have to go back and forth between places to train. You get nice rewards for the time put in and for the most part you will leave the Ghostlands around level 20 with around 5g to get you started in the real world.

Kem0, I'm not really having trouble leveling. I just suck at being attacked by multiple enemies. I can take on maybe 2 and survive. And not used to being a thief and a scoundrel, I figured there were some battle strategies that I wasn't aware of. Or I would have to get used to the fact that I might not be strong enough on the lower levels with such lightweight armor and need to partner up. I wasn't aware of the advantages of a couple of the skills mentioned (sprint, sap which I still have to try out) so maybe that will help. I was just trying to gauge if I was doing something wrong.

thats cause a good chunk of the population doesn't roll alts and the ones that do are rolling draenei or blood elf. :]

So far, I've heard the Rogue described as boring, tedious and requiring too much energy. May have to do some research about this class and race. I actually created this character almost 2 years ago and just sort of ended up reinstalling this on my laptop and picked him back up. Oh yeah, forgot to mention I'm playing on my laptop...with the trackpad. Ha! Could be another source of my battle problems.

That is terrible for a Rogue, as Rogues are a class based around spazzing on the keys as some of their abilities don't suffer global cool down, at least sinister strike didn't use to.
I don't recommend rolling on Vashj as you will get rolled by some lv 70 hunters and rogues in every zone you set foot in.

I don't know what some of the other people on here are talking about; I leveled a rogue to 52, and it was some of the most fun i've had in WoW. Once you get to level 30 or so, you can start diverging into either a combat rogue, or an assassin. Combat rogues kick everyone's ass, unless that has changed in the past year.
Also, as a rogue, it's nice to be able to skip past annoying mobs when you are going solo. Once you upgrade the speed of your stealth you will be moving only around 20% slower than normal speed.

You won't upgrade stealth until...well....lvl 70 if you do it at all. The best lvling builds are going deep into combat and then assassination. Stealth, cheap shot and spam sinister strike until you eviscerate. They're pretty binary when it comes to leveling....however lvl 70 PvP is where it becomes fun and exciting! Learning when to use combo points, how to use your energy, cloak of shadows, crowd control...so many rolls to play in such a tiny little class. :D

I'm out of the loop, I never played to level 70, or even Burning Crusade, for that matter. So I guess it must have changed a bit since I stopped playing.

As others said, Tirisfall was the shit pre-TBC. I leveled two rogues, a warrior and a mage there.
As for specifics, I really don't remember.
The last time I went through on rogue, I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing.
If you don't know the class, even at low levels, you can get into some shitty situations.
I'm a 70 Rogue, btw.
So of course, 60 levels was a long time ago :/.

I've only been ganked a few times total during my quest to 70. Right now my warrior is at 60 and the only area's where I've ever been ganked really is Hillsbrad. If you avoid that area, and you can and still level well, then you will do just fine.

I have the bug again and once I get this new PC built, I'll be rolling a rogue alt on Vashj.

QFT. The EvAv guild is way helpful.
Yeah i've had some experience playing on vashj with evav. I really thought i owed em something after playing with em because they helped me so much. Thanks Jack.
Also, I have a lvl 22 or so UD rogue on another server and I'd recommend moving on and coming back to those quests when your a couple lvls above the top dudes in those locations. It is just too hard to solo those quests with three people (and possibly some dudes from outside) attacking you. SAP works wonders tho. ;)

Very much welcome and thanks for the shoutout.
Just a reminder, since a few people are checking this thread out, to get into the VASHJ guild you gotta roll on the server, you gotta roll Horde, and then you gotta /join EvilAvatar.
That'll put you in our chat channel. Once you're in, type /<channel number, it's usually 4 or 5> Hey guys, invite me to the guild!
Alternatively you can do a /who Evil Avatar and send a /t <member's name> Hey, toss me a /ginvite!
Hoping to see more and more Evil Avatar members who enjoy WoW to join us. We've got around 5 geared 70's, tough enough to raid Heroics, and have a strong core for raiding Karazhan.
It seems peak guild hours are 4 PM to 9 PM PST, but these days you can catch people on almost any time of day, wherever you are.
Come lolgank some newbs with us!
P.S. If you're leery of joining a PvP server, but have never tried it for fear of being lolganked yourself, I recommend giving it a try. PvP will make you a better player in the long run!
If you just wanna solo quests, read the lore on Thottbott or WoWWiki.
