Ugh. Portal please! Or can we get to Keroke classics like Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, The Cars, Beatles, or something else? I love the recent releases but I've had 3 people come over in the past month and go 'I don't know any of these songs'. It makes it much more fun to play when a person knows the song, especially for singing.

P.S. have you had anyone come over and say "I know OF Nirvana, but I don't know their songs." That's criminal if you're in your late 20's to early 30's. If you haven't heard In Bloom before, and can't sing it by heart, you weren't cool back in the 90's and you aren't cool now.

No "Touch of Grey"? I think thats the only song I like... unless we get some video links up here and I can tell what songs those are...

The Grateful Dead pack is awesome. I'll definitely pick this up, that is, whenever Rock Band finally gets to my door.

No "Touch of Grey"? I think thats the only song I like... unless we get some video links up here and I can tell what songs those are...

It was also the ONLY song they ever had to break into the Top 40 - which makes it even more odd to not see it in the first batch of songs.

This is why Rockband is so good. A constant stream of content.

Touch of Grey is coming though so there's alway that. And you know Truckin'. It's one of those ones where you hear it and go "Ooooh, that song."

And thanks to the red who cleaned up the headline.

Since when is 6 songs a full album (unless it's an EP)?

Yeah, Nevermind is going to be a hell of an addition.

I'll get it because I get all DLC, but I realize know I don't like any of their songs beyond "Touch of Grey". Maybe they'll be fun to play, I've been surprised before at how some songs I don't really like are fun note wise.

Absolute hilarity!

You sir win the thread!

Boo! Can we begin voting on what content is released now? Or better yet, can I somehow rig it where the GH3 No Doubt pack works with Rock Band?:D

Taking a step back, it's rather amusing that they're releasing Grateful Dead tracks.
The Grateful Dead ... for a $170 game, playable on a $400 console, at $2 a song.

I dunno, maybe it's just funny to me.

And for the record am I the only one annoyed when people pass on a song or songs because they haven't heard it? If they listen I understand but if they just shelter themselves that's sad. Expand your taste. You may be surprised. I find discovering new music via Rock Band way more fun than tracks I know.

That's bordering on enough to make your own Grateful Dead game.

I would like Touch of Grey, but there are some others in there that I like.

But the main reason this makes me happy is that they are finally delivering the undated content. Now lets get on The Who and Nirvana. I need some Behind Blue Eyes and Baba O'Reily.

My friend gave me money to download the NiN Pack, I never really got into them but when we were playing the songs I realized that they aren't THAT bad. I'm not saying that TGD are bad or anything, I just hate the lack of Metal for RB. More so after the fact that most of the music in GH 1 and 2 was Metal.

All I can say is 2 things...

1st...This is frikkin awesome. I will be getting this pack as these songs will be a blast to play with a full 4 player band. I am especially looking forward to Franklin's Tower and Sugar Magnolia

2nd...thank GOD this ain't the shitty thrash pack. To call that crap "music" is a joke IMO. Thrash screaming garbage sucks. I'm so glad I don't have to bother with this. I hope Harmonix wakes up and realizes that crap music like the thrash pack won't sell nearly as good as other genres.

This just in: You can't please everybody all the time!

But seriously, dsfreak, the thrash pack is coming. If you want to be mad at somebody then be mad at OXM for publishing a release date that had not been confirmed by Harmonix. That's why they wait until they know it's set to go up on Live before they announce, because shit can change so fast.

And sleepbox, the thrash pack probably won't sell as well as something as more mainstream as the Oasis pack but it has every right to be put out as DLC. Yes, sales are important to any company but Harmonix is also dealing with music, something they have a great passion for. They'll put out a pack they know won't sell as well as others because they know their audience is such a diverse group.

One of the reason Harmonix has become so beloved by it's fans is because they know the music is more important than the bottom line. That's one of the great things about this weekly DLC model. You can package the majority friendly game in the on-disc package and then let the fans supplement their experience how they choose with DLC.

And before anyone says, oh yeah then where's *this genre and/or obscure Swedish doom metal band*, realize this game, a completely new IP trying to make a name for itself, has only been out a little over three months and, with the release of this Grateful Dead pack, will have over 60 songs available on Live/PSN. Three months. Imagine how it'll look by next holiday season. There will be no Rock Band 2 because we're already playing it.

The reason why there isn't a lot of metal in RB (yet?) is because it doesn't emphasize vocals much, if at all.

Especially the type of metal that most people are pining for. The brute-force, fast, challenging metal. The focus is the guitar, and that's why the genre has seen much more playtime in Guitar Hero.

Let me tell ya why I was looking forward to the Thrash Pack, I wanted a CHALLENGE. Metal guitars are insanely fun to play because of the ammount of gallops and solos. Metal drums are insanely fun to play because of the changes in speed and the crazy fills. As for the vocals, are you saying that ALL Thrash has screaming vocals? Have you downloaded the Metallica Pack? Have ya listened to the songs that were supposed to come out with the Thrash Pack? All those songs sound amazingly fun to play.

If you wanna pay 1.99 for a song full of chords, no solos, boring slow drums, simplistic bass lines and depressing lyrics then wait for the Nirvana Pack all you want. We all know THAT type of music will sell like hotcakes and that's all that matters, isn't it? But I'll wait until something fun and challenging comes out.

That's the thing about opinions, there are two kinds: Mine and wrong.

I think that a challenge for insane guitar parts is almost frustrating on the crappy RB Strat. I borrowed GH3 and the les paul is so frikkin awesome but I actually hate the GH3 game itself.

The Dead will be a blast for Rock Band.

i think actually they might not have done much in the way of metal because the vocals would be challenging for people who cant do screamy vocals.

then there is metal with more vocal skill than most pop-tarts have - take a listen to Strapping Young Lad. While yes, hes is a fuggin ugly little man, Devon Townsend is an amazing vocalist whos range goes all over the place. Or look at Dragonforce.. probably more challenging vocally than any of the songs in Rockband at the moment. I think it would be super fun to try tho.

then theres the screaming / screeching / growling metal.. and that would just be FUN to try. I'd love to see some Lamb of God in there at some point :) but the Haunted and At the Gates are fantastic.

Dont count out the metal vocalists, some of them really do have talent :)
