There's a new matchmaking playlist in the works (http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=weeklyupdateaug12&p=4390956) for September when all the maps are available as free downloads via XBox Live. What's so special about this? The multi team playlists throw a curveball into the typical Halo 2 matchmaking.Multi-Team, in this instance will largely consists of 4 teams per game, with 3 players per team (3v3v3v3). * “Multi-balls” (2 oddballs) or as I like to call it, total anarchy.
* “Plasma Wars” (Plasma Weapons, No Vehicles, No Grenades, Brute Plasma Rifle start)
* “Gulch Wars” (Coagulation only, Scorpions and Warthogs, Human Weapons, BR start) which you'll notice sounds kind of old-school huh? A little bit Halo: CE. It definitely pays homage – but it's got some Halo 2 flava too.
Very cool. I still play Halo 2 online, in fact there's a bunch of us playing tonight at 7:30 Eastern for those interested.

Playlists = teh suck. That and the crappified maps ruined Halo 2's multiplayer for me.

I still play a tonne of Halo 2 and am really looking forward to the multi-team playlist. That, and getting Relic/Terminal put into the Big Team playlist.
More people = more mayhem = more fun
Here's hoping the do something to fix Containment, turn the banshees back on, turn the second warthog on or up the respawn time on the flag/ball, anything.

I used to play Halo 2 all the time till I was either modded, standby'd or had suiciders on my team every 2 out of 3 games. I couldn't keep a positive ratio because people suck and I always had the luck of getting teamed up with morons. Its too bad because I really started to like the game.
I played it because it was the most popular FPS on the xbox. Maybe, just maybe, if Bungie can fix that crap I might start playing again. Why bother trying if I can't even keep my level because I get screwed some many games?
I used to be a 34 before the hardcore modding started. Now I'm just a 31.

What I like is when people cheat. Because I know that their lives are the saddest of all.

Yeah deleveling seems to be the most common type of assholeishness these days. Not much satisfaction in playing less skilled people. Not for me anyway.

OK, I'm a hardcore gamer. I play tons of games, and a lot of FPS's, but online, they lose their fun quickly. Halo 2 on the other hand has kept me online with a single game longer than anyother.
There is so much strategy to Halo 2. I think that's why I keep going back. There is so many different ways for it to be played. Weapon combinations dealing with either dual-weilding, the two you carry, or even assinations, all in conjuction with hieght and so forth. Counterstrike was fun, but it was the same thing over and over. Same with the quakes. The point is: Am I alone on this? People talk a lot of shit about Halo 2...but it could be the 'It's cool to hate' syndrome.

I agree halo 2 is the only first person shooter whose online play has kept me interested for more than a couple months

Yeah, even to this day i find different tricks with the weapons to get the most out of things.

Best line ever came from my brother as we settled on a time to play Halo 2 online.
Me: 'I'll see you online later!'
Brother: 'Not if I see you first!'
I don't know why I found that so funny.

They need to do something about cheating. Everyone is modding is getter pathetic. The shotgun is probably the most inconsitant gun i have ever used. Some times i can kill people in one shot when im 20 feet away, other times i can be point blank and not get a kill.
Super jumping, they need to fix that, i dont know how they missed that bug. The modding is so terrible in this game. I wish they made more patches to take care of this shit.

I feel the same way. One time I'll be 4 steps back aiming at the crotch and it's an instant kill. Another I'll be right behind them aiming for the head and they have time to turn and kill me somehow. It's very odd.

I haven't had any problems with cheating but i've heard since the last update its a lot harder without getting banned.
I also agree that Halo 2 online is a fantastic game. Plus if you find 3 others who want to play as a team it's very rewarding. I just love doing mid air Brute shot melee kills :D
It gets all my playtime at the moment. I'm determined to get my level up from a 19. This i will do by only doing teamslayer with my friends. I hate it when i'm teamed up with people who quit/whiners or aren't very good at team play.
This is the problem with a lot of online games however.

There really isn't very many people modding anymore since the last update. The few that are get banned pretty quickly. The shotgun, I agree with. Sometimes I rock with it, other times I suck with it. But that's a hard thing to fix, because of the nature of the gun. It has a lot to do with network latency and such (being the host helps a lot with shotguns), not just "it sucks". As for super jumping, almost every one of the super jumps are useless. The rest of them are either very difficult to do, or very easy to counter.

I'm with you. As are a ton of my friends (some of which who are non-gamers, average gamers, and more hardcore gamers). Halo & Halo 2 are unmatched for their multiplayer. I only ever play when I have a few hours to spare, because I just can't put it down once I start. One of my friends "gave up video games" and gave away his xbox, but now he's always on his friend's xbox playing halo on live. In another thread, I read someone who said they see themselves playing halo 2 the most on xbox 360. And so far, so do I. The only other game to keep me playing online so much was the Age of Empires series.
