JeuxFrance has two new pictures (http://www.jeux-france.com/news11787.html) of XBox 360 launch title Amped 3.

I like them... AMped has always focused on realistic snowboarding and as a snowboarder myself I hope they spend some time on a good solid physics engine and some cool online features.

That mountain looks really nice. Not sure about the boarder though - I guess I'll know when I see it moving.

I've just booked a snowboarding holiday for January. It suddenly seems a long way away...

I know what you mean ;) I skipped boarding this year (due to longer holiday in warmer regions) and I can't wait to get on that board again. Maybe Amped 3 can keep me busy for a couple of months before the real thing ;)

Thanks for that fantastic contribution to the discussion.

My video game snowboarding is rooted in SSX, so I'm sort of stuck in the arcade style snowboarding. I think I played a demo of Amped somewhere, and was almost frustrated with the more realistic feel :P I'm definitely will to give it another try though if it turns out to be a quality title.

I can't wait to go boarding! Man I miss the mountains.

I plan to try windsurfing and sandboarding some day. The rush!

yeah I understand you like SSX more... Amped really is a game for boarders... I love the snow sounds and the mountain views. True that tricks are a bit hard to do... I usually just board down and imagine having the wind in my face. I would love a boarding game that is "realistic". Good scenery, nice physics, some fellow Live boarders and 30 minute rides would be perrrrfect.

Yeah, usually it's best to ignore those. I guess I'm just not smart enough.

Anyway, the little we can see looks good to me. I'm a skier. I can't snowboard to save my life so I wish they pull a SSX and give me skis. I HAVE 2 LEGS GOD DAMNIT!

The first two were great. This one sort of came out of nowhere to be semi-announced as a launch title. Glad those guys are keeping it going. I'll be picking it up.

Speaking of boarding, I'm thinking of switching from skiing this season. What is a quality, resonably priced board model for a beginner? And boots and bindings?

So this is published by 2K, right? Who's developing it?

Also, I should probably pick up 2. SSX3 scared me away from snowboarding games for a while.

I really liked Amped 1 and hated the 2nd one. I still play the first on my XBOX time to time. I've been a carver for the past couple of years, so I'm actually enjoying the cruising down different paths, I really like the realistic feel.

Which one better captures the feel of carving and exploring a mountain? I don't want an arcade experience, I just want to snowboard around.

SSX3 scared me away from snowboarding games for a while. I found SSX3 to be a pile of shit as well. Suddenly it was a chore to actually get to a race. Just give me a goddamn menu system, don't make me actually board to where I need to be (particularly when you can then accidently miss the entrance).

True, I totally agree with this. But I still found 3 to be a good improvement over 1 and 2. It wasn't quite as wacky as the others, which I enjoyed.

Now don't get me started on the "xtreme rock 'n roll" attitude of 4...

Hmmm, depending on where you go, I'd say a rental is probably the most reasonably priced for a beginner. If this is your first time on the board, it doesn't matters what kind you're on :D

I loved Amped 2. I thought it was a blast, maybe because at the time SSX3 had come out and that game just did not sit right with me and Amped 2 put the focus on doing just one or two tricks really well instead of eighty-four billion tricks as fast as you can. It was a great change of pace. I grabbed SSX Tricky for $9.99 for those times when I just want to go off jumps and do tricks but I still return to Amped 2. I am hoping 3 expands on 1 & 2. And brings back snow skates, those are fun but hard as hell to control imho.

The screens look good, but do they really look better than previous Ampeds? Hmm....don't think so.
