From PlanetGameCube (http://www.planetgamecube.com/news.cfm?action=item&id=6437),
What happens when you have a group of guys that loved Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64, like to play Halo online on the PC, and combine all of the above? Well, online Zelda multiplayer, of course!
The screens and videos at the official site Zelda Online (http://www.projectzeldaonline.com) look promising (if it survives the usual round of copyright infringement related lawsuits).

Has Nintendo ever sued fans?
(I know that many have, but I don't know about Nintendo in particular.)
If anything, this just shows how amaizng the original Halo engine was. Best EVER.

Not as cool as the Chrono Trigger thing...
Oh and I do believe Nintendo has come close to suing a fan from Suicide Girls... Or at least made threats. Either way I don't think they'll like this.

I loved Halo, and the game was damn fun to play, but I'm not sure about how this shows the awesomeness of the Halo engine. The engine was serviceable for sure, but it wasn't revolutionary or anything.

The made threats, but then apologised and gave the person a free GBA I think. But yea big N are every bit as proactive as every other company when it comes to laying the smackdown.

Mmmmm ok.Obviously a lot of work has gone into this.
Mods are great aren't they
Mods are great! I just think I'd feel a bit stink fragging the hell out of Link is all...
The engine was amazing in that it was one of the only game engines you literally couldn't crash. You could have hack the crap out of it and the game would still run smoothly. Another example is that Halo had some of the best physics in any game ever, and still does. Realistic, no, but fun, heck yes.
Warthog launching.

I think the existence of Zelda Classic and it's gazillion fan-made levels at least shows that something like this has a shot. The only potential problem I see for it is that they still sell OoT for the Cube on that collection disc and so they might get antsy about the models being used.
Regardless, if it does survive I'll be looking forward to it. My Halo copy needed a kick in the pants, and horseback combat would just about do it! :D

Why is it that when a guy codes together an emulator to run the actual rom on a PC, it's evil piracy, but when people just rebuild the same environment in a pre-made engine, it's a work of art?
I'll never get that.

Well, for starters, coding an emulator isn't evil piracy, emulating a game you don't own the cart for is.
But as for the specifics of why this thing is okay, I'd say it's the same reason you can write a fanfic using Hogwarts academy as your setting and that's kosher so long as you don't profit from it. Whereas if you just scan in the sixth Harry Potter book and distribute it to your friends, that's a crime.
He's making a free game using the Zelda setting. So long as Nintendo's cool with that, it should be fair game. (It SHOULD be fair game even if they're not, but most folks get cowed into shutting down such a project rather than take on company lawyers.)
