Heroes of the Pacific puts players at the controls of the fiercest fighter planes of WWII, in an era where dog-fighting and aerial combat skill meant the difference between victory or defeat for the U.S. Navy. Codemasters has released a demo allowing you to try out 3 single-player missions; Pearl Harbor - Surprise Attack, Wake Island - Evacuate the Admiral, Marshall Islands - Attack On Taroa Airfield, and one multiplayer dogfight map.
You can grab the Heroes of the Pacific demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=27419) (314mb) over at WorthPlaying.

I can't find a way to enable my joystick. Surely this thing doesn't default to mouse flight only?!?!?!

I have not, is it a sim or and arcade flier?

I just gave it a shot, I like the look of the menu UI, but the game is basically a arcade flying shooter. I'm a big fan of IL-2 with all realism settings, so this is not my cup of tea. I would love a game like this if it used real flight sim engine, but I just can't get over the arcade feel of it. Have to pass.

Its a great little arcade flyer though. Even has mp in the demo, dogfight with AI planes. I wonder what kind of MP the full thing will have. It handles really well with the mouse, seems like fun.

I prefer hardcore IL-2/Pacific Fighters as well, but I still like some arcade sims too... they're always good for my friends to get into flight simming with on the LAN, and easier for me to play with my kid (though I'm happy to say he's gotten bit by the Pacific Fighters realism bug and he's been pretty obsessed with that ever since, turning on more realism every now and then). ;)

LOL Satan... cut that a little close, didn't you (Your Falcon landing)?
I'm SO tempted to get Falcon 4.0 AF. I've still got my LE version handy, but I also want to get that deluxe version of Lock On too. Plus I'm saving for a new PC. Argh.
I am so glad to find out I am not the only one that can't land a virtual plane worth a damn. Even in MCFS3 my pilot runs from every landing with the plane exploding seconds later. :)
