Mega thanks to whomever can answer my questions without too much flaming...

I'm writing an entry to my company blog on the strength of Blizzard's brand. But I wanted to throw in how much the monthly WOW fee is. Thing is, I don't play WOW. Is it still $18 monthly and less for multi-month prepays?

Is there a monthly fee to play the game?
Yes. After the end of the free month included with the game, you need a subscription in order to continue playing the game. There are three subscription options: a month-to-month package at $14.99 per month, a three-month plan at $13.99 per month, and a six-month plan at $12.99 per month. The subscription fees for the three-month plan and the six-month plan must be paid in full.

Moneywise or in terms of general sanity?

I think its $15 a month, and the "multi-month prepays" don't really save shit. That's the financial cost, now what it takes from your soul, physical health, and social life...

Wikipedia puts it best: "The minimum gameplay duration that a player can purchase is 30 days using a credit card, or 60 using a prepaid game card. A player also has the option of purchasing three or six months of gameplay at once for a slight (6% to 15%) discount. A player pays about US$0.50 for one day of gameplay"

Thanks. I looked around Blizzard's website for like five minutes. But it wasn't easy to find.

Also keep in mind that the subscription model and fees vary extremely from region to region. So dont go multiplying 15$ x Number of Worldwide subscriptions.

Even if it was free it wouldn't be worth playing. It takes more than just money from you.

Yeah, I'm doing that marketing thing where I say "up to $15" to make it sound like more money than it is.

Souls are overrated.

In this context, it should be "overpriced." :D

No joke about the marriage thing. Watch out for the time sink that is an MMO...

Yea she does.

Don't forget the up front $50 you pay for the account + CDs at your local retailer. Another $10 for a name change when you've stolen 1 to many guild banks and then the $25 for when you have to switch servers cause you took all the loot off Illidan, including the warglaives ;)
