I don't know if people watch him at all on TNT, but he says it how it is and he's always dead on. I don't think he's said a dishonest thing in his life, and what he's saying here is absolutely true.

Good on him. Can't wait to see him in politics.

Yeah...but he's said a lot of STUPID things before....and some racist things before.

I gotta be honest, I was hoping for more like 3 or 4. I can picture it getting tedious after more than that.

He's got balls, I'll give him that much. And he also makes a good point about Christian hypocrisy. And he is a damn fine basketball player. Here's to hoping Barkley in '14 for Alabama, but the "fake Christians" comment might hurt him quite a bit there.

And he also makes a good point about Christian hypocrisy..

No he didn't...he accuses them of being judegmental. WELL HE'S JUDGING THEM BY SAYING THAT!!!

He basically criticizes them for doing somethat that he's doing at that very moment. Talk about hypocrisy. Barkley is your typical dumb jock...he sounds like someone who dropped out of Jr. High.

I disagree. He's saying that conservative "Christians" (Ie politicians) are the ones who are fake Christians, not the necessarily the actual people.

Barkley is your typical dumb jock...he sounds like someone who dropped out of Jr. High. He's accusing them of judging about the wrong things, of prioritizing intolerance over Christian compassion. Its not a contradiction if he's saying precisely what sorts of things he thinks they are wrong for judging.

He is a college graduate, and I am not sure were the vitriolic "He's a stupid drop-out jock" thing comes from. Is it that you disagree with the guy, or do you really find the manner in which he said it so offensive?

Also anyone who hasn't played his new game really should, right now.

Its available for free here. (http://www.mofunzone.com/download_games/charles_barkley_shut_up_and_jam_gaiden.shtml)

Somewhat inarticulately stated, but I agree with what he's saying, and it has a lot to do with why I don't identify at all with Christianity as practiced in this country.

It's not my religion anymore. What's being trotted out in it's name has nothing to do with what I see as the core values of the faith I believe in.

So making a point about intolerance is judgmental? Perhaps it is, but it is not an irrational, hateful view such as those that he is calling out.

I especially love that you criticize him for judging conservatives by go on the stereotype him as a "dumb jock" and a Jr. High drop out when in fact he is well educated. At least do some fact checking when judging people.

But he decries those against gay marriage and abortion, which the majority of traditional Christians are for. I do not have numbers to back this up, but I believe most of Alabama would fall into that category. However, I may be completely wrong and wish him the best of luck in his campaign.

He judged them for judging...although I suppose since he's a democrat you'll distort the facts so you can support him

I never said he dropped out so don't fucking make shit up...I said he sounds like someone with that level of educatioin.

Are you really that naive about college athletes? For a guy who thinks he's so fuckign smart sometimes you come off as such a clueless, naive fool.

"Every time I hear the word 'conservative' it makes me sick to my stomach, cuz they're really just 'fake Christians' as I call them. That's all they are."

The millions of liberal Christians (gosh...some even support abortion and gay marriage/gay priests/pastors!), and atheistic/agnostic/Jewish/etc. conservatives, will all be interested to finally have an iron-clad stereotype for "conservative." It might surprise them to find out that, if you're a Christian, you must be a conservative...and that if you're a conservative, you must be a Christian...and that both are "fake" and "that's all they are." Charles Barkley's on the job! In fact, IrishWhiskey will be glad to know that he's not a Christian, since he's a liberal and only conservatives are Christians and are fake. The good news would be, apparently, he's not a fake. But he's also not a Christian, apparently.

"I'm gonna vote Democratic, no matter what!"

Thank goodness there are still people out there who approach voting with such a serious, intelligent stance! I've never heard a better explanation for what to consider when entering the voting booth. I'll be sure to talk that up with my classes; "Barkley says you should just flip a party-line lever. That will cover it!"

He has a point or two in there somewhere, but it's a stupid one or two. Red meat for the Christian-bashers, however! The sharks are circling.

In regards to the Auburn business program:
Programs in engineering, architecture and business have been ranked among the best in the country.

Not being able to enunciate words is not the same thing as talking slow. He's not very articulate...the way he puts together sentences makes him sound like someone who taught themselves to read. When you also factor some of the cringe inducing comments he's made over the years it's pretty easy to paint the picture that he's not that bright.

Leave it to this forum to overlook the all to common story of the young gifted athlete that comes from nothing who is allowed to go to college that normally they would never be admitted to because strings are pulled, etc. Then once there they're given special "tutors" or outright waivers fromt taking classes. This isn't just a stereotype...it's reality. I'm sure Barkley was often too busy doing Theoretical Physics homework when he should have been shooting freethrows and practicing blocking people out for the rebounds.

Excellent reporting, Wolf.

Uh, as far as Barkley is concerned. He doesn't get my vote. Not that it'll matter. I cannot vote for him anyway. As if he's not being judgmental himself.
