LONDON - 14th February, 2008 - Xbox 360 enthusiasts everywhere can get VIP access to this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) from the comfort of their living room starting 20th February.

Microsoft is bringing GDC home to the more than 10 million Xbox LIVE members across the globe by allowing them to download breaking Xbox 360 news directly from the event to their TV. The free high-definition content will also include footage from the keynote address by John Schappert, Corporate Vice President LIVE, Software and Services for the Interactive Entertainment Business.

Schappert’s keynote address, “A Future Wide Open: Unleashing the Creative Community,” will provide an exciting view into this year’s plans for Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business. His keynote address is scheduled from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on 20th February. Highlights of the keynote will be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Additionally, footage will include never-before-seen gameplay, demos, screenshots, game trailers and interviews from the GDC show floor. These additions will enhance Xbox LIVE Marketplace’s growing library of premium entertainment, which already equals more than 3,600 hours of total downloadable content (HD and SD). Xbox LIVE Marketplace is the leading destination for downloadable HD movies and television content.

Don’t miss any of the surprises Microsoft has in store for its Xbox 360 fans by gathering everyone together in the living room to enjoy the GDC experience with GDC: Bringing It Home. To download GDC content, go to Xbox LIVE Marketplace or see the latest news at www.xbox.com/LIVE.

GDC will be held at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco from February 18-22, 2008.
Look for some big news at this year's GDC.

Very cool. I can remember when they did this last year, but now I can actually watch it. :)

Didn't they have some demos available last year too, or am I thinking E3?

Indeed. I missed this last year since I didn't have a 360 yet. I had to download all the videos the old fashioned way, hehe. This will be neat.

They will have demos, as well as other exclusive content (themes, etc.).

Man I'm looking forward to heading out there this weekend. The company sprung for the All Access pass, so I'll get to attend all the keynotes for once.

100% Agree. Let's hope for a "go download your 360 demo now!" type announcement.

I know there is a slim to none chance of this happening but it would be cool if they announced the spring update ready for download at GDC with the "Play public XNA games feature".

They'll definitely talk about that feature but I doubt it will be ready the day of the announcement.

They might want to choose a new slogan, one without the word "home" in it.

Light mine while you're at it. Too little preview content and too much time has passed. Time for some "walk the walk".

I'll also bring tar and feathers, just in case.

100% Agree. Let's hope for a "If you are a gold member go download your 360 demo now!" type announcement.Fixed that for ya. I am so hoping for a Too Human demo and I'm really looking forward to this GDC. After MS's shift last year to not talking about games coming out for more than a year this should be when we get all the 08 announcements.

Unfortunately I don't think my 360 will be back from repair by the 20th.

Ahaha. Are they really trying to say it's free for people with paid memberships? Wow..

Well it's Microsoft, I guess we should just be glad they are giving it "for free" instead of nickel and diming customers for things they already paid for.

Well, yes and no. The videos anyone should be able to download, but the demos, we the Silver plebes will have to wait for.

By the same logic; would you say free DLC isn't free because you had to pay for the game? Or that Home won't be free because you had to pay for a PS3?

I saw you play FF online a bunch of times. You didn't need a gold account for that?

I'd like them to enable removal of games I demoed but never bought (prior to the last update) from my "played games" list.

Nope, FFXI doesn't require Gold, thankfully. The odd thing is that the other MMO on the 360, PSU, does require Gold, and it still has a monthly fee.

Argh. I wrote gold, not good! Fix your quote, LIAR! :D

Yeah, that is odd. Anyway, you should use your new superpowers to get a good account. ;)

Xbox Live has created a similar orange(Gold)/yellow(Silver) pecking order as Evil Avatar. ;)
