View Full Version : Questions for Karl Rove
Abraham Lincoln

I don't post very often, but this might be interesting to someone.
Karl Rove is coming to speak at my University, (U of Iowa) and I have been chosen to be part of an hour long small group discussion with him before he gives his speech. (I believe between 10-20 people were invited)
I'll get a chance to ask a few questions, so I'm interested to know if anyone here has any suggestions. I'm looking for something interesting, questions that he would normally not hear. I certainly don't mind challenging or insulting the man, as long as the question is thought provoking.
If anyone can come up with some good questions, I'll ask him and post his response back here on Sunday night.
(btw, Karl Rove is a political strategist, best known for choreographing George W. Bush's presidential campaigns. In case anyone didn't know.)

With your deliberate focus in the previous two elections on the religious right do you feel that you've disillusioned the fiscal conservatives in the party and potentially split the GOP?

Both good questions, I might not get kicked out as fast if I ask the second.

Don't forget to scream something iconic, such as "Don't taze me, bro!"

What strategies does he believe the McCain/GOP machine will employ if Obama becomes the democratic candidate? Specifically what sort of attacks on him can we expect other then the lack of experience and naive foreign policy tracks since he could theoretically patch those up with a good VP pick. Do they plan of assaulting his character? Are they going to play hope spoiler? What's their strategy in dealing with someone who is not a Clinton and has too little time in Congress to have built up a collection of bad votes (from a independent/Democratic conservative point of view since they will need those votes to carry the election.)?
Also what drink is he expecting himself and the GOP party leaders to cry in when Obama trounces them in the General Election and carries a vastly Democratic majority into congress with him?

I'll probably ask him one serious question, and if I get a chance, one funny/inappropriate question. So keep them coming.

Does he expect the Republican party to carry the strategies he helped lay out going forward? Does he feel that there is going to be a drastic change in Washington after the elections due to the current political climate? Does he feel that the given the current security situation, that a decrease in the surge will result in an immediately renewed focus from the insurgents?

You could ask:
"Why did you send homeless people to your opponents campaign headquaters with promises of free food in your first campaign?"
or
"Why did you fund secret push polling suggesting that McCain had an illegitimate black child during the South Carolina primary in 2000"
or
"Why did you leak the name of Joe Wilson's undercover CIA wife after he revealed your lies about WMDs, and do you feel responsilbe for the danger you placed her contacts in?"
or
"How does gay marriage threaten anyone? (http://thinkprogress.org/2008/02/12/high-schooler-spars-with-rove-over-gay-marriage/)"
or
"Do you believe you elevated or lowered the state of political debate in this country"
or
"Is the country better of now than it was at the start of George Bush's Presidency"
or
"Do you support the claims made by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, and why did you secretly fund them"
etc, etc, etc

Does he still think that Obama will be undone by his inexperience (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/03/09/politics/main2552110.shtml)? Also, why did he want to try to help Obama with some strategies?
Or here's a good one:
How does he think history will remember him, considering how wildly unpopular he is even now?

Why Bush did nothing to prevent Firefly from being canceled.
I've got nothing really.

I just found out he is getting paid $40,000 for this speech. I need something really good, to make him earn his money.
So far I'm leaning toward the gay marriage question that Irish suggested. (It's true, professional is an understatement)

How did Bush pull off bringing down the Towers?
Mission Accomplished: Please elaborate.
Drinking: Are you sure Bush quit? If he did, can he start again? Please?
How does it feel to be one of the architects of returning Republicans to Congressional majority status, only to piss it away just a few years later?

Also, does he prefer to eat babies live and kicking like Cheney or does he have any BBQ techniques he'd like to share?

Core conservatives are feeling that they are being left behind by the party. What can be done to bring back the core of the party? The small business owners, those that are concerned about our borders, the rank and file Republican?

So Mr. Rove canceled his speech because of the weather. Apparently he cant take a little snow. I'll post back here if they ever decide to reschedule it.

I know the weather forecast for the next year for Republicans; STORMY!
He probably won't be rescheduling! ;)

Ask him if the Jews really conspired with Bush on 9/11. During the Reagan era the CIA created crack and AIDS to bring down the black man. Ask him if Bush came up with a similar plan. Ask him if the government will ever declassify the hurrican making machine they used to wipe out New Orleans. Ask him is Bush got nervous when Kanye West unmasked him in front of the whole world.
Ask him if he needs an apprentice. You know, if he reschedules.

Who's more evil, you or Cheney? Follow up question, would you two be willing to settle the argument once in for all in a cage match fight to the death?
