Danish newspapers stick thumb in the eye of Muslims. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330529,00.html)
COPENHAGEN, Denmark — Denmark's leading newspapers Wednesday reprinted a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad that triggered rioting in Muslim countries two years ago.
The newspapers said they republished the cartoon to show their firm commitment to freedom of speech after the arrest Tuesday of three people accused of plotting to kill the man who drew the cartoon depicting the prophet wearing a turban shaped like a bomb with a lit fuse.
Wacky muslim antics will surely ensue!

Where does it say anything about Dutch newspapers? I'm pretty sure Dutch isn't the same as Danish.

In other news the animator of the notorious comics was found on the street outside of the news building sobbing, "Please, please oh God please don't run them again. I am so scared and have not slept in 18 months."
While the animator wet himself it is clear that his protest flies in the face of these batshit crazy religious fanatics. As if to say, "bring it on."
I like to think this.

Dutch = Danish?
No.
Dutch = Netherlands.
Danes = Denmark.
Actually Dutch is a bit of a misnomer, because it can also refer to Germans. I think us English people use the word wrong.
For instance, the German currency used to be the Deutsche Mark, the railway system is the Deutsches Bundes Bahn. its no coincidence that Dutch is similar to Deutsche (sp, I'm quite sure, is wrong).

Actually... Germans call themselves Deutsch in their native, which essentially means German in English. The reason we Americans get confused over the word Dutch is because of...

The Dutch rolled bad dice otherwise Dutchenesse would have been a much more common language..
and also, being close to Russia, Germany and France didn't help either. Neither did having to share their ocean access with the British. :rolleyes:

Oh, I was trying to be ironic:P, since I'm from the land of the Dutch. Dutch is the only way (I know) to tell someone from the Netherlands speaks his native language.
Dutch probably originated from Deutsch. But as far as I know they speak German in Gemany, not Dutch.

Yup. But English speaking countries call Hollands native language Dutch, which is kind of vague. Germans call their own language Deutsch. We call it "Duits" here in Holland (or the Netherlands officially, confused yet:P)
Germany (Germania?) was probably was one big freaking German empire across half of Europe where it all originated from

I am fairly sure that Dutchies are square donuts with raisins in them, and Danishes are not donuts at all. The Dutch speak Hollandaise, which is a saucy sort of language. Bernaise sauce is spoken in Belguim, where they never learned the art of donut making.
I have no idea what Muslims use for a sugar high.

Why would they do that?
I understand the sentiment, and standing behind freedom of speech and all that, but...
"Ah, yes! That terribly offensive thing that lead to widespread rioting and almost got someone killed. Let's do that again. Brilliant!"
I'm sure there are ways to commit to freedom of speech and journalistic integrity without doing exactly what lead to so much trauma.

Not really. Dutch (Nederlands) is the official language. Flemish (Vlaams) is something Flanders came up with because everyone hates Holland and their ridiculous amount of enthousiasm, they (Holland) also mispronounce 7 (there's no "u" in "zeven"). Not that Flemish is actually spoken, since almost every city has its own horrible dialect.
Also, Belgium doesn't need donuts, as they all have a hole in the middle, which is really just a waste. Instead of wasting our time doing that, we came up with waffles. We decided that that was a lot better. Also, we came up with the idea of the "frituur", which was an insta-win for us.

Dutch is the official English name for the primary language spoken here in The Netherlands (also the official name instead of Holland).
Holland is a name for western coastal region (includes Amsterdam and Rotterdam).
Furthermore, the word Dutch comes from the older word "Dietsch". The word Deutsch (the German language) comes from the older word "Deitsch".
Close, but no cigar...
So far, as a Dutchman, I have yet to put my thumb in a dyke. My girlfriend being Bi I do feel I have partly done my duty saving our hollow country from flooding.
