If you're a fan of wrestling games, but for some reason the current batch of WWE licensed games just isn't doing it for you, you're not alone. After loving the first Smackdown for Playstation and No Mercy for the N64, a group of gamers felt that the the quality of wrestling games went down the toilet. So Dave Wishnowski created a union. You may or may not know the story of Wrestling Gamers United, but attempts to talk to the companies on behalf of the fans failed. But rather than giving up, the WGU decided to make their own game, Pro Wrestling X (http://www.prowrestlingx.com/), which they recently showed at E3. Friday Gamespot had an excellent interview (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/prowrestlingx/news_6130974.html) with them.We decided early on that the gameplay should be the star of the game and we intend to continue with that philosophy. Besides, wrestling gamers are smart and they know that a roster full of famous wrestlers says nothing about the quality of the game. Look at the Legends of Wrestling games. Showdown had one of my favorite rosters of all time but I can barely finish a match in that game without wanting to turn it off.I can only say that I hope these guys find a publisher. I don't know if what they're making will be great, but their ideals and attitudes sure are. They've gained a fan in me.
