Battle For Middle-Earth 2 takes part in the North of Middle Earth, where a battle is raging between Sauron's forces vs. elves and dwarves. It will be possible to create/customize your own hero, apart from known figures such as Arwin, and become more powerful as you progress in the game. While BFME was all land based, the sequel will also take the action on the sea, naval battles included, courtesy of an updated engine.
Check out the new BFME 2 screens & trailer (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=27395) over at WorthPlaying.

The first one wasn't to bad, but I really didn't enjoy it when you got a ton of creatures out. It just became kind of jumbled and hard to control. I found the single player to be a lot more enjoyable.

The first one was the most fun I'd had with an RTS game since Total Annihilation. If this one is anywhere near as fun then I might end up picking it up.

The first was interesting, but was certainly missing that special something. The Northern battles during the Lord of the Rings are never really covered in the popular texts so there's a lot of potential to explore them using the units we know and love from the films. Customising a hero would also be fun, but I certainly dont remember anyone called Arwin very well... Arwen?

Warning: The trailer appears to be corrupted and can cause a hard lock of your system. Both the Worthplaying and Filefront files appear to be similarily affected.
That said, I'm excited to see this game on the horizon, I love the increased perspective and the fact that units of soldiers now number anywhere from 16 to 30, this really adds a significant amount of realism to the game that has been consistently lacking in the genre.
It looks like the developers were inspired, at least in part, by both Rome: Total War and the Kohan series. I think this bodes well.

The first one was pretty crappy. I expect the same from the 2nd.
