Those who log into Steam today will see this unexpected news update (http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marketing/August12.2005/). It seems Rag Doll Kung Fu, a cool looking game made by Lionhead employee Mark Healy, is set to be released over Steam some time in the future. For those of you who aren't familiar with Rag Doll Kung Fu, picture marionettes with super powers kicking each other's asses.
The official site (http://personal.lionhead.com/mhealey/) has more information about the game, and a video trailer in the download section.
Hell yeah! Bring on the Chi powa!

Can't wait for it. I remember back when I first got wind of it, still looks great. And yeah, this would be great for the DS.
Damn it Nintendo, first you dropped the ball by not having a Warcraft (or other RTS) (edit: I meant at launch,) on the DS, and now by not having this. It's almost like you're not trying!
further edit:
And I'm half-assing smack-talk here. I wasn't attempting a rational debate about Nintendo's practices. It was an offhand comment. Calm down.

What are you talking about? Several RTSs have been announced for the DS.

No, that's a sad dude wearing a pot on his head.

They must be pretty desperate for steam content if they are openning it up to share-ware quality games. I'm expecting tetris clones next.

There are more people looking forward to this game than to the next Advent Rising game, and that game cost eighty-two bojangles dollars. The game is being made by a professional developer, working at a successful studio. You have not played the game.
You are a fool. :)

You have much to learn, young grasshoppa. Hate, the product of imperfection is. Mrhmm.
Personally, I'll be waiting to see if there is a demo.
Edit: according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rag_Doll_Kung_Fu) it will cost £10/$18.

i think you are missing the point, a developer made this in his spare time, and wants to get it out to people. He is going to use Steam for distrabution and not go through the hassle of a publisher.
Good for Steam, good for Mark.
I'll be buying this game for two reasons:
1 - The money will be mostly going to the developer
2 - It an origional idea for a game (for a change)
I've been waiting ages for this game to be released :)

Excellent use for Steam, imho. We'll need expansion packs that feature are favorite marionette characters from the past, like thunderbirds, etc. :-)

I don't see this game having a price as a buzz kill. A developer came up with a cool idea, put his time into it, and releases a product we pay for at a lowered cost. Seems standard. And here's the best part, no publisher. I'll gladly pay a developer some of my money for a fun title, especially if there are fewer middlemen taking cuts. Besides, that'll help with my guilt when I buy Burnout Revenge from EA. :)
I can only hope this becomes a trend.

This is the first I've heard about the game but it looks like you could do some really funny stuff with this. One question I still have, do you set the characters movements and then press like a play button out or is it all realtime?
