Yesterday, Battlefield 2 producer Ben Smith was on Xfire to chat with members about mods, expansion packs, and various other BF2 related topics. The transcript is now live at the XFire Website (http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?name=XFire&file=cmspage&body=xf_bf2chat).

So from the interview there seems to be no chance of:

• Different types of game play like Capture the Flag or Hunted
• An anti-air class
• Mods on ranked servers
• Friends List
• Clan HQ
• MEC vs China maps
• Additional player models

And evaluating but not promising
• Rewind in the battlerecorder
• Ability to change player names
• Favorite server list
• Spec. Ops. getting points for blowing UAV, Artillery, etc.

SO many things they could fix/change to make this game that much better.

Why did they REMOVE the ability to add friends. That was already in BF1942. So, so, very dumb.

No MEC vs. China? No CTF/Hunted?

Well, that pretty much shot any chance of me buying it.

If you want MEC vs. China, all you have to do is make your own map.

CTF will be one of the first gameplay mods that the community creates, don't sweat it.

The reason they can't do much with the browser is the fucked up deal with gamespy.

The only things I really want fixed, they're fixing, so I will eventually be happy.

Little off topic, but does anyone here actually use Xfire? I found it to be clunky as hell...

I keep hoping they release this thing for the 360 and have it kick ass. :)

What kind of machine are you running? Mine's pretty old now and it runs pretty snappy for me..

I only recently started using Xfire, but I love it. No problems here.

I didn't come to the same conclusions as you.

I thought he hinted at possibly doing something "moddish" with ranked servers.
People can make MEC vs China maps, they just aren't planning on providing any.

I thought it seemed like the favorite server thing was a pretty sure thing.
I definitely thought that the spec ops getting points was completely for sure.
