Both mice offer a laser sensor with 2000dpi of resolution and adjustable weighting cartridges. Techspot (http://www.techspot.com/news/18332-Logitech-unveils-three-new-gamers-products.html) has an interview up with the marketing manager at Logitech regarding the new gaming focused product line.

Adjustable weighting? Man...that's hardcore.

ExtremeTech posted a review of the G5 mouse the other day. Not just one of those press release rejurgitations, but an actual hands-on review.

They say its the best mouse ever. Man, for 80 bones it better be!

That keyboard looks sad though. Nothing will ever touch the old IBM AT keyboards, unfortunately.

I have the MX 700 which is fine for now...but that keyboard is badass. My current one is wireless, but a wireless keyboard is not that important. That's a pretty good price too. I need that backlit function...I'm pretty sure most people play PC games in the dark.

How about making a left handed gaming mouse!

Yeah...except it says 70MSRP at the end of the article...not sure which it is. Looks pretty good....I have an MX700 as well and it serves it's purpose most of the time.

Damn, I am going to have to look into both the keyboard and the mouse (corded) I use a mx510 now but have been looking to upgrade.

When will the add hand straps to these mice. Being the Hardcore gamer that I am when I'm jinking around in a UT match sometime my moves are so wicked that I throw the mouse across the room. We need a strap system that binds your hand to the mouse.

:D

Ohh and that LED keyboard that was posted weeks ago sounded very cool. You know the one whos buttons change depending on what app your running.

yeah, the mice don't seem to add too much but that keyboard looks awesome. It really brings together so many features.

If they make an ergonomic version of that keyboard, I'd be all over it. Extra features won't make me sacrifice the comfort and familiarity of the shape of my keyboard.

here here...Ergo keyboards don't get enough respect. They need to start making more of them.

Just curious, how many out there have ergo or custom keyboards instead of your plain ol' vanilla keyboard?

I myslef have one of those white Microsoft Ergo keyboards. Any boards out there that are really nice to have?

I thought egro keyboards were eventually proven to be anything but?

I'm interested by the G5 and G7. Can't wait to try one. Does anyone know the benefit of decreasing the resolution is?

My keyboard is not ergo, but far from vanilla. I can't stand the ergo setup. Plus, those fuckers are huge.

I thought egro keyboards were eventually proven to be anything but? My wrists and fingers would certainly tell you otherwise. Whenever I switch jobs, one of my first steps is to find out who I need to talk to so that I can get an ergonomic keyboard. My wrists hurt tremendously if I code for an entire day on a standard keyboard.

Plus, those fuckers are huge. That is an unfortunate side effect of the design, I agree. Also unfortunate are the steps that companies have taken to make the keyboard smaller (i.e. the stupid ass design of the arrow keys on the MS Natural Elite).

I don't have an ergo keyboard, but I do want another one as I loved my last one. I will say that on certain games where you had to go all over the kb for certain buttons proved to be a pain, even when I bound the keys differently.

i dont really type normally so ergo keyboards are too tough for me to use. I only use my left hand for QWE, ASD, and ZXC - the first three columns of keys. Its kind of wierd but it just developed that way.

Its kind of wierd but it just developed that way. You would definitely be pretty much S.O.L. in that case. The design definitely forces you to type "correctly" (I use that term loosely since I know everyone types in a manner that works for them). When I first brought an ergonomic keyboard to our household computer back in high school it made my dad stop using our computer completely. He only types with two fingers, so the gap drove him insane. Of course, I suddenly had the computer to myself all the time, so everything worked out in the end.

Touring the G5

Logitech's latest gaming mouse boasts its most advanced optical engine to date. It uses a laser sensor similar to the MX1000, but doubles the resolution to 2000 DPI.

Doesn't Razer already have the "Cobra" with 2000 DPI? How is it the "most advanced" optical engine?

I've got a MS Natural keyboard. Bought it when they frst came out and I love it. I find it easier for my big mitts and it also seems to ease strain for long sessions of BF2. I'm thinking of getting a wireless model to match the G7 mouse I'm gonna pick up.

I demand a "natural" version of that keyboard, along with a wireless thumb-ball trackball.

the battery life [of the G7 cordless mouse] will last up to two and a half days [Based on an average of 4 hours of game play a day] for average game play.
Holy crap, only 10 hours before the batteries go dead? I've been using a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse for over a month now (maybe closer to two) and the AA batteries inside it are still going strong. Am I missing something here?

I've got one of the blue MS natural ones and love it. I can't stand working on a normal keyboard now.

Keyboard: IBM Model M. All others are pretenders.

Mouse: Logitech Optical Mouse (2 button + scroll).

I go through a mouse every six months or so. I click so much that the buttons give out after about 6 months to a year. At only 10 to 20 bucks a pop, I can't complain. The keyboard, however, will probably continue to function long after I die. These things are unbreakable, I swear. And the feedback from the keys is far superior to the pathetic rubber dome switches that all modern keyboards use.

Read it again. It is the most advanced LOGITECH optical engine as is clearly stated.

Exactly. They are a pain for gaming because so many keys are out of the reach of your left hand. So I have an ergo one at work and regular at home. :D

Mark me down as converted for life to the ergonomic keyboards design. I'm clumsy enough that I usually fry one or two a year by spilling drinks on em, but I'll go out and buy a replacement the same day rather than use the crummy crammed-together model that's stuffed in a drawer somewhere. Ergo is great for my typing and my gaming. I've grown used to them that I rely on the divided keyboard to feel my way to keys along the border.

And while the L.E.D. keyboard looks sort of neat, I wouldn't dream of buying one unless it were available in an ergonomic layout.

i was super excited about the g5 (i could care less about the keyboard since i use a nostromo n52 for gaming and have a cheap keyboard for typing) UNTIL i noticed they removed one of the side buttons. I'm sorry, but while most games seem not to recognize all those mouse buttons (which is stupid imo), the few that did (ut, hl2, etc) i always used. loved having those two side buttons. as well as web browsing. i can't believe they got rid of it. i love the new software (i have the 510, but my roomie has the 1000) over mouseware, but i dunno.. especially with the price as well, i might just hafta pick up the 518 instead.
