According to this story (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2005/08/perceptionjowooddrawbattle.shtml) on Gateworld.net, developer Perception will continue work on Stargate SG-1: The Alliance.
Editor: Thread Merger
Not only is SG-1 not cancelled, Australian developer Perception is pursuing legal action against its soon-to-be former publisher JoWooD.
Perception claims to be the official licensee of MGM on Stargate SG-1: The Alliance, and considers JoWooD's latest stunt and surprisingly sudden "concern for quality" to be misleading and libelous.
For insight into Perception's version of the industry's latest "He Said, She Said" fiasco, refer to Perception's official site (http://www.perception.com.au/).
Stargate SG-1: The Alliance is one of the highly anticipated titles for the holiday season of 2005.

And on what tangible evidence do you base these claims? Do you work for either of these companies? Have you played the game?

I've never even heard of JoWood. Why would I listen to them?

Xaerin, I have played the game at E3. It looked and felt like a pre-Half-Life era FPS.

Yeah seems like a giant winner especially considering thier previous work. Don't you all remember the hours and hours of fun you had playing "Thunderboats and Top Down Racer"???

Oh man I still fire up whatever device Thunderboats came out on for a few hours of thunder boating fun....

Funny, myself and many others felt that the graphics at the very least looked great.
Oh, the graphics looked great, that makes it satisfactory, resume development!

You know what needs to die? This bullshit right here: "It looks like pre-Half-life! w00t lollZoR!" No one fucking cares that you read it on Slashdot, so why don't you come up with something original to say or just shut up?
As for you Mitza, this: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/stargatesg1thealliance/screens.html?page=12 doesn't look retro to me. Maybe you're already playing a 360, but the rest of us are still on the good ole XBOX, PS2, and Gamecube.

What about Arx Fatalis, Etherlords, Gothic 2 or Silent Storm, all 70%+ games, not a great compared to all the failures but they have at least made some decent contributions.

Holy crap, who gave MacGuyver the big gun? Seriously though, it's kind of cool that you the face texture is good enough that I can tell that it's O'Neil despite half his face being covered.

Oh my, I'm a sucker for videogame drama. Can't wait to hear the reply.
Also, this snippet from the Perception website (http://www.perception.com.au) has me scratching my head.
In Sydney, Australia, Perception Pty Ltd launches today a new corporate website that reflects the company’s style and action. At the same time, the official website from Stargate SG-1: The Alliance, the game currently developed by the studio has reached 22 millions pages seen, in less than 2 months.
“The audience of the website, with 100.000 new visitors each month, has grown even quicker than we expected.

so it looks nice and plays bad..... I was under the impresstion that this was going to be squad game. just like the show. not a Rambo type. and who cares if it looks bad. it could have a great story. I do watch the show and love it. and really is not a rambo type show. lets hope the game is liek the show.

Okay, guys, I wasn't at E3, so I guess I'm not IN THE KNOW. But, the screenshots look like quality. They look like game versions of that actual sets from the show. The models look good. I can't speak to gameplay, but it is a fact that The Alliance will have 4-player online coop where each person plays a member of SG-1. (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2005/05/newdetailsonitheallianceir.shtml)
LET ME REPEAT THAT FOR THE DENSE FUCKERS:
A 4-PLAYER ONLINE COOP STARGATE GAME
I would also like to add: "Players will choose one member of SG-1 to play, and will be able to give basic commands to the other three. Each character possesses a different weapon and unique abilities."
So, yes, squad-based.

Fair enough, the first four posts were all clearly mocking JoWood though so I just thought you were continuing that with some other crappy obscure titles they published.

I thought it looked good and played well at E3. Then again, the level that was being demoed was very dark in ambiance.

With all due respect, if your opinion is only based on the screenshots you've seen around, please put a cork in it. I have no intention of starting a flame, unlike you do, but I have to say my opinion based on what I've seen at E3.I'm talking about the actual game, the (PC) playable demo that was shown at the JoWood stand, not some screenshots on the Internet.
I think it sucked. The JoWood PR guys and gals were obviously embarrassed with it and I would have been too. You can look at the screenshots and say: "It looks OK", and it does, but you have to see the game in motion to realise how bad it is. Unless you can provide me with another (better) playable demo, you cannot convince me otherwise.
And, btw, I don't visit Slashdot.

He didn't spell MacGyver right for a start. Back to the discussion about how this game was going to be good/not good based on very little evidence.

K... here's the problem... the screenshots linked in this thread look pretty good.
However, this batch of screens, released back on July 18th, look fucking horrible.

Okay, big deal. Don't release it on the PS2, shooters are an Xbox thing anyway(LIVE Stargate anyone?). But then again, maybe they should release it on the PS2, the console is old and not known for churning out graphics.
and that's O'Neill with 2 L's. (show reference)
Ha, I missed that.

Possibly, I think they started to take themselves less seriously and it kind of slipped into comedy accept for the long epic story arcs ending in two parters.

I think Stargate has been great for the past few years... Until now that is. This new season sucks ASS. For one thing, it's now the Fargate... I was against this at first, but the new characters really aren't -that- bad. But the new bad guys on the other hand, they are just completly unimpressive. I haven't been this disapointed with villains since... well, The Wraith.
Seems like Stargate as a franchise is going down hill.

This, coming from someone that thought Resident Evil: Apocalypse was good...
