Folks over at Gamespot have finally done something worthwhile ergo Q&A with peeps from Capcom (http://www.gamespot.com/arcade/action/streetfighteriv/news.htmlsid=6185761&tag=topslot;title;2&om_act=convert&om_clk=topslot) in regards of the Street Fighter IV roster of fighters. Almost full cast of SFII makes a comeback. Screenshots included.
GameSpot: Shadaloo's been mentioned a few times in relation to the game. Can we assume Bison, et al will also be making a return?
Chris Kramer: We can't comment upon any character possibilities right now other than the ones previously announced (Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Crimson Viper) and the new characters we are talking about today. Additionally, we're still keeping elements of the story a mystery. We want to pique players' interest and keep them thinking about Street Fighter IV for some time. More of the story will be revealed in various forms in the months ahead of us.
What's up with the identical weird patches of hair on Zangief and Blanka?

I was a little disappointed by the article. I wanted to hear something new. It seemed to be all rehashed.

So they're just remaking Street Fighter 2 in 3D?
This news couldn't make me LESS interested in the game.
I really liked the dose of realism that SF3 was trying for, by severely limiting hte number of players who could use superhuman craziness like lighting and fireballs. It looks like this game is going the complete opposite direction.

How can it not be a sequel? For the love of Christ

Go back to even the SNES or arcade versions. Zangief and Blanka have always shared a few personal hygiene choices regarding hair that's not on their skull.

I don't see how this game is a remake due to the presence of fighters from previous games. We don't know the whole roster yet, so I'd suggest putting that complaint back in its holster.
Besides, if it was a rehash of SF2, we wouldn't have the new the focus moves and revenge system. Not to mention the apparent return of parrying.

Wow is it just me or does Chun Li's legs look a little TOO thick? Like fat, not muscular. I remember the ol Chunster having muscular legs, but god damn they look ridiculous in some of those pics. Tone that down please.
Anyways besides the... odd design choices they made with the character models, I gotta say I'm pretty excited about this. It looks like they took a long hard look at what made SF so awesome when SF2 was hot, and what wasn't so hot about SF3 and decided to get some of those old time feelings back. I hope it plays as old-school as it looks.

I love Street Fighter, but still couldn't care less about this game. Chun Li, Dhalism and Blanka are back? Wow! Next you'll be telling me Mario and Pikachu are back in Smash Brothers!
Its all the old stuff, but with an uglier graphics style. Yawn. Wake me when they make an actual 3D Street Fighter, or Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

True that, true that. And they have more then enough time to tweak the look of the character models. So I bet we'll see some better looking world warriors in the final build.
Also, have ya ever played the XBL version of SFII? Great port of the arcade... just harder then I remember it being.

Chun Li's thighs have always been huge. Especially in SF3.
Also, Ryu is a sly dog.

I like the look of this game but SSFIIT HD is the one I want.
Is it just me or are the charas in SFIV sybtley cell shaded?

God damn.
Indeed. I mean look at that, her one leg is as huge as her waist! Something is supremely fucked up with that.
Chun Li's thighs have always been huge. Especially in SF3.
I wouldn't say huge, the ones in the pic is are huge. The old Chun Li had muscular legs, but they weren't the friggen horse legs we see in that pic.
Check this link (http://www.zweifuss.com/chun-li/chun-li.htm) and compare...
See? Muscular yet feminine. The SFIV Chun looks like a horse from the waste down. I think if they left the thighs alone and tapered em down to her calves making em slimmer as they go, she'd look OK.

Lot of good detail in that stage.
That's about all that's good, though.

Whaaaaat?! The sprite shown in your comparison link has bigger thighs!!! The thicker calves do man her up a bit though. The thick forearms and large hands are more disconcerting though*.
*Yes, I do realize that we're discussing the thickness of a fictional character's limbs

i propose a change to the sf2 lore. Blanka and Zangief get their distinctive hair from their mother and zangiefs father was mikhail gorbachev and blanka's pops is hank mccoy aka the beast.
chun li's legs look a little beefier, but if you remember when barry bonds started playing for the pirates he was clocking in at around 185 pounds or something and after he arrived at the giants he became the huge monster that he is now.

I was trying to figure htat out too.
No, it's not at all cell shaded, but it looks like there's an unaturally strong light sourcing effect applied to the characters that's creating an unrealistically dark shadow for an outside stage. That extra black shadow is what's creating a suble black outline around the objects and making it look like the black ink line that surround "cell shaded" graphics.

So does it mean that they are Retconning SF3 out?
I was really hoping to see the next SF game have Evil Ryu as the final boss and all his Friends/Enemies facing him for their own reasons. Ie, Ken to redeem him, Sagat to beat him, Bison to control him, etc etc.

The difference though is that her thighs are big in the sprites but taper down and make her look like, well, a woman. The calves in SFIV are just huge, and I didn't even notice her man forearms and hands.

I think it's been mentioned the character designer for SFIII and SFIV likes "thick girls"...which totally explains Chun-Li.

I don't know about that seeing as how he came up with Elena from scratch, and Chun Li is already established as having massive thighs from her previous incarnations.

Pretty much agreed.
I like the look of the game personally, but for those of you who love SF but hate the look of it, well... I don't envy your position. If this game doesn't sell, you'll never see another Street Fighter, ever. If it does, you'll see several more iterations of the same style before you see something different.
I hope a demo will make things more palpable to those who dislike the graphical style.

Yes they do look big, but I guess that is believable. As powerful as her kicks are supposed to be, it makes more sense her legs being insanely muscular.
