If you can find them....

What's up with that site? It looks like they've hired Atari's old marketing guys ("Yeah! We'll win 'em over if we confuse them!"). The video's OK but still not lighting my pants on fire. I was really hoping this generation we might see a few more games with personality, but that is not to be, it seems.

There's something about watching what could almost (given the resolution) pass as genuine WWII footage to a song by the Kaiser Chiefs that I find distasteful.

i think at release you tend to get a lot more 'tried-and-tested' games and genres with maybe one really original game. the development of these games has to have been started >2 years ago, these days, so they're bound to be ones that the 'money men' are pretty sure would succeed.

$0.02 deposited.

i was really looking forward to the nhl series on the next generation of consoles. After seeing that NHL2K6 footage, Ive got to say that I'm hugely dissapointed.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe I subscribe to the Jakob Nielsen school of web design, but that site is a pain to wrestle any sort of information from.

Wow, quite impressive...when you finally find it.

I'm quite happy with what I saw, and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I see someone running over zombies with a snowblower? Count me in.

Yeah that Capcom zombie game could be one of the most exciting games. A kind of Final Fight with 100s of zombies and outrageous weapons. Old Skool? :)

Question. The emulation patches for the 360 ... Do you think the newer games about to come out on the original Xbox already have these patches built in to the gameplay disk, like the new Rainbow Six and Half-Life 2? They'll be ready to play on the new console without any updates?

Sooo...lots of modernish action + sports + token fantasy/fighting games? Eh.

"Do you think the newer games about to come out on the original Xbox already have these patches built in to the gameplay disk"

Good question ;) I think new games are probably tested on the "standard" emulator to make sure they work. So I guess the new games have their code tweaked to make sure they run.

Where the fuck are the videos? There is nothing "under the image of the football player." Too tired to search through all those links.

LOL...

1) Use the force...

2) This is the first 360 game, find the damn videos

3) The guy who designed the 360 also designed this website

4) They hired a drunk hobo who knew flash and couldn't come up with anything better than the pamphlet they gave him

5) Fuck you guys, we're Microsoft

I like how the region select crap doesn't work properly in Opera. Classic Microsoft.

That web site is completely style over substance. It would be nice to actually have good navigation and be able to know that you've seen everything and if anything new has been added. I won't be going back there again.

I couldn't find the videos at first because there isn't anything underneath the football picture. You actually click on the football picture to acess the videos.

The fuck is going on with that website? That's actually worse that the WarioWare Twisted site. And here I was think the 360 UI looked pretty good.

The console wars are so over.

Can't select my region in Opera. I want to see the videos, but screw Microsoft for making me use Explorer.

Firefox works. I keep FF around explicity for the few sites which don't support Opera. More likely MS simply doesn't support anything to do with Netscape (Opera being built on the Netscape frame, I believe.)

Anyway, the video was OK. I really think MS is making a mistake by making so many current-gen games available on the 360. Half of their 'release titles' are ports of the same game, available on the current XBox. Way to instill a need to buy your new console! Not to mention the fact that people are going to look at, say, Kameo or any of the 2005/2K5 sports titles, and think 'oh, this thing barely looks better than my xbox, screw this.' This is especially true because they're not bring the ACTUAL next-gen games into the limelight as they should be. Gears of War, Oblivion, PGR3, these were mixed in with the rest. They should be featured and highlighed and bordered in flame.

I'm pretty sure it's Firefox that's build on the Netscape frame. Anyway, I broke down and used Explorer.

"This thing barely looks better than my xbox" -- that's exactly what I thought about some of those clips. I'll still buy the thing anyway.

The psp sold about 5 milion worldwide in just 3 quarters. If the 360 can do the same (priced just $50 bucks higher) than MS will be in great shape. If the economy holds up, MS should be in a good position when the PS3 comes out.

If MS can convince developers (through sales) that the 360 is a viable platform to continue to develop for, then I think the 360 will garner a much larger marketshare than expected. Then, developers will either go multiplatform or keep making a few exclusives for each system.

Their launch offerings are very promising. How many systems launched with this many games on day 1? None to my knowledge.

(This is of course omitting backward compatibility)
