So, who does the bg twinks? 19/29/39/49/59/69? I've had a level 32 rogue for the past year or so, decided to check out what kind of rewards I could get his level, and they're suprisingly decent at that level and cheap. The hard part is the amount of marks it takes. (First day of pvp I did yesterday, got 500 honor and 21 marks. We lost 4-5 games, won the rest) and I have some level 40 purple bracers already. Cost like 400 honor, and 20 marks.

So, anyone else do twink rogues? Looking for tips on spec mostly. Along with that, what do you twink with class wise? what brackets seem best for certain brackets?

I thought you get xp now for battlegrounds. How long will a twink last you before you level?

I actually have a rogue in the 30-39 bracket that I've had decked out for a little while now.

Here's his armory page: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Thunderlord&n=Ellusion
The whole guild is entirely made of my own characters. As in, I'm the only person in the guild. You can look around at my other twinks, but my rogue is by far my favorite.

As far as specs go, I really don't have any idea besides the spec I have him. He is perfect for the bracket because he hits hard (slow main hand), especially since no one has plate yet. I like his spec, and with his gear I have never lost a one on one fight.

Hemalin: They took away exp gain in the BG's a while ago. But even back when you gained xp, it was only for turning in marks.

You don't.

Personally the only time I ever found twinks fun was when there were like no twinks and I could 1-2 shot noobies @ 39 w/ my warrior. Now there are lvl 19 twink rogues running around with like 50-75% innate dodge x.X

I have a 29 hunter. It's a fun diversion from the PVE grind. It's interesting to see the varied level of twinkdom. There are some people that come in with junk gear that get rocked and there are times I've liked to have stopped to check out what the hell type of gear someone had cause they did way too much damage or had way too many hit points.

I didn't really "twink" per say. As in I didn't set it up to be that way, but I did get a Crusader enchant on my Warrior Class Two Handed Sword. A guildmate was kind enough to donate the enchant and because of that I made sure I used it in the BG's and still use it now during my early 40's.

I keep considering doing this for a while to help me get the marks necessary for a PvP mount... I like the look of the Black War Kodo.

A Vindicator's Belt and Ring shy of having all S1 and purple 70 gear.

Then I get to grind the Arena.

I hate twinks, as they ruin BGs for low level people who just want to try PvP.
I make a point of /ignoring them whenever I see them, as chances are they have nothing important, or indeed coherent, to say.

I must re-iterate twinks can go to hell, ruining low level bg's for new players. If you want to be a superstar then go compete in the arena where you might get a fair fight instead of steamrolling people in greens.

I tried BG once... fuck that shit. I am not even sure why I am on a PVP server as gear is 60% of winning in the game.

Gear does matter, but with the exception of twinks it's usually not that bad. They've made gear a million times more accessible than it was back in the old rank based pvp system where raiding gear ruled the day. As a fresh lvl 70 you will be under equipped because the expansion is over a year old now.

Now that you can get season 1 gear through the honor system you can get equipped pretty quickly. This coming patch they're even making some decent pvp blues rep-buyable to bootstrap players up even faster.

I will argue skill has a ton to do with it though. I cannot count the number of times i've gone up against players who should of beat my ass but instead got owned. Things like hunters standing still, warlocks not using seduce. With the high hp totals we have nowadays + resiliance fights last a ton longer than they did pre-xpac meaning you usually cannot just blitz someone dead. If gear meant everything than how have I beaten s2-3 equipped wars/priests/mages etc... on my s1 equipped shaman?

the problem is twinks, at low levels they are so far above a normally equipped player it really is impossible to beat them. There's no skill in it on their side, they can just auto attack you and win without effort.

Basically, that is me, being auto-attacked to death at low levels. I get attacked by a guy near my level and think "oh, I can take him maybe." Then I notice his weapons are FRICKIN GLOWING! a lv 24 hunter. so I realize "oh, no wait... my shit is fucked, he is twinked."

:( it gets better as you get away from the low levels, 10-19, and 20-29 are the really hot twink spots.

So there's something in WoW that people refer to as twinks? lol.
Phew...not what I thought you guys might be talking about...given that twink is more known for meaning...something else.

Something scary, and I won't go into more detail.

Thinking about it from the way I described, this makes WoW sound as gay as bus station bathrooms. Not knocking anyone, but you know what I mean. ;)

homophobia much?

I thought Twinking in MMOs came from Twinkie and munchkins.

sparkfizt

yeah, it's got another meaning to the rest of the world :P I honestly don't even think of that definition when I hear the word :P

Twink(specifically how it's used in WoW): A player who has leveraged a large amount of gold into creating a far above average geared low level character for the purpose of dominating in pvp. A twink utilizes high level enchants, and the best possible gear for their level range. A normal character might have 20 gold worth of gear, a twink's gear is potentially in the hundreds. Syn: Lame

Homophobia?
I was just pointing out the hilarity of the fact that there's 2 meanings to the word, at least, and one of them makes the conversation hilarious.
I don't care if people are gay.

Defensive much? :p

quite, and aggressive on the gaming community (mostly the LAN party kids) who use gay as deragotory and flip out and start dry heaving if they see gay porn (which makes changing their wallpaper tons of fun).

Well, I'll tell you right now, I have zero problem with gays.
I'm not gay, but it's not like they break into my house and have gay orgies when I'm not watching so I could care less what they do in private.

I only posted because I found it funny, not because I was trying to put anyone down. And I'm well past the days where saying "gay" as a derogatory term are in my vocabulary. I'm old, married, and easily amused. :D

So if anyone took offense at my first post, sorry, not my intention. And I learned what twinks mean to WoW players...even though the mental image of a mostly naked man in plate mail leggings doesn't help :p
That was a joke, just getting that out there. ;)

I don't BG twink, but every so often I'll buy a blue for my low level hunter.

I wish Bliz had a BG mode that limited your gear (point buy) and made it about picking the right gear and tactics. Sort of like Guild Wars, but not.

Just make pvp games give out xp and it would really hamper the twinks :) something like 1% of your total xp to level per game.

I wish they added the XP gain back into BG's. I leveled my alt from 40-60 through BG's alone.

I'd do it. Espcially on the grindy levels when the quests seem to dry up (late 20s) But since the update, quests don't dry up.

I have this problem with leveling alts..... I can't do it, just too used to all the perks I have when doing stuff at 70 to be able to bear trough... running places.
I have a warrior up to 21, and I'm thinking I'll just go "awwfuckit" and twink it out, roll a DK at 80 (like everyone else) and see how that plays out. It might be nice to have my gold and stats completely compensate for the utter lack of PvP skills I have (you have no idea).
Anyone suggest a build and items? :D

I'd love them to put XP gain back into PvP.
You'd be able to hear the twinks crying no matter where you are in the world. It would be the biggest simultaneous whine in history.
It would punish the people already twinking because they'd have wasted a lot of money, and would discourage anybody from doing it in the future.

But it makes too much sense, hence Blizzard will not do it.
They will stick to their usual patches, which consist of buffing classes that don't need it, and nerfing classes that do.

There was supposed to be gear-matching? Guess it never happened.

The only way to beat the twink is to become the twink. It's the nature of the game now.

Ok, since I just got back into WoW recently, after a 16 month hiatus (thanks, bastards. I would hate to add up all the money EA has cost me the last 6 months, from forum threads)

I currently have a 24 hunter (Cuge) and am wondering:
- I know what a twink is, but can someone explain the term "BG Twink"...
- Should I go to battlegrounds?
- Should I just grind him up to 70 as fast as possible?
- If so...quests, i'm assuming is the path to level the fastest?
- I still love doing the low level instances (BFD, RFK, etc..) am I going to be SOL trying to get a group together for these?

- Someone with a high-level main character that spends a ton of cash buying the best possible gear with the best possible enchants to lolpwn the high end of the Battleground bracket with a lower-level alt, typically level 19 Warsong Gulch.

- Yes, at 70.

- Yes.

- Yes.

- No. They've implemented a "Looking For Group" tool that makes life somewhat easier, and if you're on a high-population sever you should have very little trouble finding a group during peak hours.

Do what you want, I still recommend pvping as you level. This helps introduce you to your toolset incrementally so you can actually learn to play. the other advantage is that by the time you hit 70 you'll likely have enough honor to buy a weapon and maybe a piece of armor or 2, which can be a huge leg up. As you level into higher brackets you will see fewer twinks, and twinks stop being quite as ridiculous.
