It's finally here! The first episode of Evil Avatar's brand new movie podcast has been edited and posted for your consumption. You can check out Episode 1 of the Movie Guys on the official Movie Guys website (http://www.themovieguys.net/2008/02/05/episode-1-our-list-is-better-than-yours/) or just download it by clicking here (http://www.themovieguys.net/podpress_trac/web/3/0/TMG_Episode_1.mp3). An RSS feed will be available soon, as well as the ability to download the show via the iTunes Music Store.

In our debut episode, Jason, Alex, Sydney, and I introduce ourselves and our taste in movies by presenting our lists of the top ten greatest movies EVER (minus AFI choices and 2007 releases).

We also bring you the latest movie news, DVD releases, and films hitting theaters this week! Plus a phone call from TrackZero! It just doesn't get more exciting than this, folks. Listen to the first episode, and be sure to catch the live recording of Episode 2 this Friday, February 8, from 6-8PM CST.

Also, please leave comments and let us know what you thought of the show! What would you like to see more of in the future? What should we cut? Hit us with suggestions and we'll hit you back... with LOVE. To quote pseudopseudo: "Listen, or I'll punch ya' junk."

Now you just need to get it registered on the Zune Marketplace so that I can just have it auto download like the other EvAv Podcast.

Can you add RSS feeds to that? Because you can just add ours.

What is it about movies that makes people so willing to defer their own opinions to those of others?

WTF are you talking about? Everyone in the chatroom spent, like, 99% of the episode screaming at each one of our choices, detailing why it was wrong, and explaining what should be on our lists instead. Plus we have a whole portion of the show sectioned off for call-ins (even though we sadly only got one for Ep.1). This isn't about "deferring their own opinions," it's about having a discussion about movies.

I guess I don't understand the appeal then of listening to people argue about subjective things. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to the appreciation of film or any art for that matter.

Why would you listen to a video game podcast, then? Or post on a gaming forum for that matter? It's the same thing. You're basically suggesting that talking about anything that's a matter of opinion is pointless.

I actually try to make sure my podcasts do a better job of not having us *argue* for just the reason you said. We're having a discussion, as you correctly termed it, for the sake of appreciation of film. We might disagree and debate on the points we disagree about, but the whole idea is to try and figure out where our opinions differ, thus illuminating something we hadn't thought about on our own/with just our own opinion.

Why do you read movie reviews? Game reviews? Evil Avatar forum posts? It's not -- or, in my opinion, shouldn't be -- to figure out what other, smarter people think so you can agree with them or to have your own pre-determined opinion validated. It should be to encounter new ideas that may or may not be at odds with your owns and think about them.
