GamingShogun (http://www.gamingshogun.com) has posted it's one on one interview with Atanas Atanasov (say that three times, fast!) about their upcoming sci-fi MMO, Earthrise. Earthrise is set for a late 2008/early 2009 release and is being developed by Masthead Studios. You can find the full interview here (http://gamingshogun.com/Article.aspx?a=763).

It's hard to pass judgment on this yet as it was just announced, although I dig the beasties in the screenshots.

The offline progression is different than the one in EVE online. All combat and crafting skills will advance online. While offline, the players will have the opportunity to gather income and advance in a more social aspect of the game.
I get setting up a shop if you're a crafter and having it run while you're logged out, but how can you advance in a more social aspect if you're not actually interacting with people?
I definitely think that MMOs need to have a way to advance your character when you're offline. However I dislike the fact that playing Eve doesn't advance the skills of your pilot. I'd love to see a game that has office advancement, but make it so the gap between early adopters and newbies can be closed through play.
