The Register (http://www.theregister.co.uk) is reporting that one quite determined Linux programmer has managed to get Doom running on an iPod photo.

While pundits ponder whether Apple's market-leading iPod music player faces imminent doom, tech-savvy Linux users are hacking colour-screened versions of the device to explore another kind of Doom - this time from ID Software.

Hard-working iPod Linux developer 'Kyle' has reworked Doom so that it will play on the device, albeit at an excruciatingly slow 3-4fps frame rate.

the site's already /.ed.

is there anything that won't be made to run doom? it's like the coming of age of an electronic device... it'll be the fridge, next. and then who knows? the toaster? the kettle?

I love these sort of hacks/ports, and it really goes to show that the human mind is a creative one.

Truly a mind-rape that would make Philip K. Dick proud.
